Hannah had been scrubbing the kitchen floor when she heard a loud banging at the front door. She dried her hands on her apron and peered through the peephole, but all she could see were three large men standing on her porch.
"Who is it?" she called out.
"Open up, it's the landlord!" one of the men barked.
Hannah's heart sank. She had just renewed her lease for another year, and she couldn't imagine what the landlord could want with her. She opened the door tentatively, and the men barged inside.
"What's going on?" she asked, her voice shaking.
"You need to pack up your things and leave," the landlord said coldly.
"But I just renewed my lease!" Hannah protested, her mind racing.
"We don't care about your lease. This property has been sold, and the new owners want you out."
Hannah's eyes widened in disbelief. She pleaded with the men, trying to reason with them, but they were unmoved. With surprising strength, they grabbed her arms and dragged her out of the house and throw her belongings at her.
