Chapter 158 - Meteor Falls

Actually, it was just Terrance' overthinking. After being separated from loved ones for two years and reuniting, no one is concerned about the other's achievements.

Seeing the tiny Swablu from back then, now healthy and grown into Altaria, made Altaria, as a mother, very happy.

Although she didn't show it outwardly, deep down she was delighted.

With both Altaria and Terrance together, the atmosphere was indescribably awkward.

With no topics of conversation, Terrance was at a loss for words for a while. All three of them stared at each other with eyes wide. Finally, Terrance had a bright idea. He cleared his throat and slowly began to recount the journey of Swablu's evolution into Altaria, detailing their experiences of the events of the past two years.

And then it was finished, and silence fell again.

Terrance couldn't engage in normal small talk with unfamiliar Pokémon. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he had no choice but to bring up the matter of the mysterious meteorite earlier on, or he'd suffocate in this heavy atmosphere.

Terrance got this mysterious meteorite from Altaria's nest.

Terrance guessed that Altaria must have found this meteorite not far from Mt. Chimney, or maybe even from inside Mt. Chimney itself.

However, what concerned Terrance was that when he obtained this meteorite, it was nothing but an ugly duckling - lacking any distinctive features. It was even more pockmarked and unsightly than an ordinary meteorite.

The meteorite changed and began emitting a faint halo, which was something that happened later, so the question is, how did such an unremarkable stone attract Altaria's attention at first, prompting it to pick it up and eventually give it to Terrance as a parting gift?

Upon seeing the mysterious meteorite, which had undergone significant changes, "Altaria's" eyes emitted an indescribable radiance, involuntarily emitting a high-pitched cry.

Then, its cotton-like wings flapped slowly, lifting her into the air. She glanced at Terrance and flew off in the distance.

"Follow it." Terrance also sat on Altaria, his heels close to the other's. "It must be taking us to the place where the meteorite was found, right?"

Terrance was curious about the origin of this meteorite.

"Is this direction towards Rustboro City?" As they flew, they followed the mountain range of Mt. Chimney and flew to the southwest. In just a few minutes, the Altaria in front of them stopped.

The path here looked treacherous. It would probably take some effort to climb it manually. Without special training, it would be difficult to navigate through this place smoothly.

From high above, Terrance noticed the uniqueness of this place.

Geographically, it looked like a big cave, with various intersecting mountain ranges, and several inconspicuous small cave entrances exposed, giving it an ancient and heavy feeling.

"This crater..." Terrance murmured, remembering something.

Shortly after he arrived in Fallarbor Town, he had heard about such a place, a special location on the edge of Mt. Chimney.

Rumor had it that one night, a huge fireball fell from the sky, which was actually a massive meteorite that crashed straight onto Mt. Chimney from outer space.

At that time, all the residents of Fallarbor Town and Rustboro City felt the terrifying commotion, which even caused small-scale tremors.

So, for the relatively small and almost closed-off Fallarbor Town at that time, this incident remained a highly discussed issue.

Various versions of legends became stories told by the older generation, passed down as one of the magical tales to entertain children.

But as awareness increased, the place where the meteorite fell years ago was given a name.

Meteor Crater.

Then, as some Pokémon began to return here, using it as a habitat, especially the center where the meteorite fell. Due to its rich extraterrestrial energy, and also liked by some Pokémon, the environment here changed again, gradually evolving into a cave.

What Terrance doesn't know is that recently there have also been efforts to develop the Meteor Crater, but unfortunately, it's already home to a considerable population of Pokémon, including some strange Psychic-Type Pokémon, so the development has been temporarily halted.

But as this place was classified as a developable area with high resource value, it was granted a new name by the League.

Due to the distinctive environment it spawned, a waterfall, it was given a legally significant name.

Meteor Falls.

"So, that meteorite was picked up by 'Altaria' from this Meteor Crater."

Terrance was slightly surprised, then he instructed Altaria to land before observing the environment here.

Terrance wanted to see if he could pick up another similar meteorite, but he quickly gave up. Looking around, it was desolate, although there were rugged rocks everywhere, there were hardly any traces of meteorites in sight.

And the ruggedness of the road wasn't just talk. The deeper he ventured into the cave, the dimmer the environment became, coupled with the uneven terrain, providing Terrance with a more tangible experience.

Coupled with the constant sound of flowing water in his ears, Terrance immediately concluded that this was not a safe place. If he stayed here for a few days, he wouldn't even know how he'd die.

"So it's much clearer now. This meteorite fell together with the huge meteorite that fell back then," Terrance muttered.

"However, the uniqueness of this meteorite is still a big problem."

"Just based on the information I know, I probably can't draw any conclusions."

Terrance glanced around and thought of Steven. He seemed to also have an impression of this meteorite. His urgent departure was probably to investigate the truth about this meteorite.

"Steven Stone, heir to the Devon Corporation."

Terrance had already learned about the other's identity; he has quite an astonishing background. Originally, Terrance was suspicious of Steven, but upon learning that the president of this company was also like him, and it was something well-known... he felt it wasn't so exaggerated.

Strange preferences!

"Another tall, rich, and handsome guy. No wonder he became friends with Wallace. And judging from the incident with Team Magma, he should be quite strong too as a Trainer."

After all, called in by the police as a trump card, Steven's strength was beyond doubt.

"Yes, the Indigo League has Lance, the Hoenn League has Steven and Wallace, the Sinnoh League has Cynthia, this is really..."

Terrance shook his head, feeling immense pressure. Although he didn't need to compare himself with people at that level, people always have a competitive heart.

Having a competitive heart is what drives progress.
