"Have you finished playing by the pool, Kit?"
"Um, yeah."
The boy, Kit, near the source of fresh and calming water, got up from the edge of the pool and walked towards the bench. After a few steps, he hesitated when he saw Anubis sitting calmly on the bench. He was a vampire, and everyone would immediately recognize that, especially with those piercing eyes.
"Don't be afraid, Kit. Even though he looks like that, he's not interested in humans," Soran tried to reassure him, his voice gentle. "Come here!" He patted the empty space on the bench right beside him.
Reluctant to sit so close to Anubis, Kit chose the opposite end of the bench. Soran chuckled softly and shifted to make room on the other side. "I know some kids from the orphanage. Uh, I should have introduced you to them earlier, right?"
"Um, it's okay. I'm more comfortable with you," Kit hesitantly replied.
