To address the issue of the sudden maintenance and to seamlessly intertwine it with the in-game narrative, the developer had prepared alternative story elements disseminated by the NPCs around the borders. When curious players attempted to approach the affected region, they would encounter one of these NPCs who would recount a rough overview of what was happening inside.
"Well, the stories are quite diverse, and most of them are pretty implausible," a player remarked after a while of silence. "But at the core, all these stories mention the involvement of vampires, which seems to be the only truth in all of this."
The scarcity of players entering this region also made sense; only a few dared to venture in and explore with the real pain risks involved. Initially, many were motivated and enthusiastic, but after experiencing one or two broken bones or being scratched in the eyes by the sharp claws of monsters, so many eventually gave up.
