Chapter 223 - Half and Half

"Your eyes are blue, but throughout history, only the eyes of dark demons and nightmare creatures have been black," Long Fu said incredulously, his gaze filled with fear as he looked at Mu Yunxuan's eyes.

The surprise in Su Zimo's eyes quickly disappeared as she noticed the faint blue glow in Yunxuan's eyes.

Suddenly, Su Zimo remembered Nightmare's words, but she couldn't sense any fear from him. She would have to wait until she looked at her master's letter to uncover the truth.

"Lord Long, your reaction is a bit excessive. Are you afraid that Nightmare will come back for revenge?" Su Zimo felt her anger rise as she mentioned this, thinking about everything she had just experienced. It felt like a dream, but a vivid one.

Meanwhile, Mu Yunxuan's eyes were filled with confusion. When did his eyes turn blue?

"Miss Su, regardless of the situation, I must thank you. You have brought light back to the entire Beast Continent, allowing us to see the sunlight again," Long Fu expressed his gratitude with a hint of guilt. He understood that the Beast Continent had been plunged into darkness, and his father was partly to blame.

"Lord Long, in Nightmare's dream, I saw everything—from Nightmare and Jian Mo's love story to Nightmare sacrificing his own life to give Jian Mo a chance to be reborn. His punishment against you has lasted for a hundred years, and it's enough. I hope you will take care of yourselves from now on," Su Zimo said, holding Mu Yunxuan's hand. Unbeknownst to them, a blue light appeared in their intertwined palms.

"Yunxuan, let's go back," Su Zimo said.

"Sure!" Mu Yunxuan didn't want to stay any longer. Two handsome men were staring at his woman without blinking, which made him feel irritated.

"Lord Long, farewell."

"Hold on." Long Yunlan suddenly spoke up to stop them.

Su Zimo furrowed her brows, realizing that this woman was still not willing to let go.

"Su Zimo, your cultivation is a bit lacking. Xuan Bingxue Lian has no effect on you. There are many treasures and profound energy in the Beast Continent. You can take whatever you want, as long as you leave Xuan Bingxue Lian behind," Long Yunlan said.

Su Zimo smiled coldly upon hearing this, mocking Long Yunlan. It was difficult to determine who was stronger and who was weaker.

"Miss Long, as beings who have transcended into the Super Divine Beast stage, it's natural that both of us have exceptional qualities. I hope you cherish your own life," Su Zimo replied.

"Hmph!" Long Yunlan snorted. "You know that we are both Super Divine Beasts, and yet you dare to be so audacious. Even if the two of you join forces, you're no match for me. If you have any sense, hand over Xuan Bingxue Lian."

Long Yunlan glared angrily, determined to obtain Xuan Bingxue Lian. She had read about the Eight Great Profound Artifacts of humanity, and each artifact possessed extraordinary abilities. If she could possess just one of them, it would be an additional feather in her cap.

"Miss Long, is this your way of repaying kindness with enmity?" Su Zimo's face turned icy cold, her phoenix-like eyes sharp and piercing, instilling fear in Long Yunlan's heart.

For some reason, seeing those knife-like eyes, Long Yunlan, a Super Divine Beast, felt a surge of fear rising within her.

"Yunlan, that's enough. Greed is like a double-edged sword. You will continue to live in this Beast Continent, but what purpose does Xuan Bingxue Lian serve? Besides, we should also know how to repay kindness. Miss Su has helped our Beast Continent tremendously. How can you entertain the thought of seizing her artifact?" Wu Wei's stern voice reprimanded Long Yunlan. He couldn't help but feel embarrassed by his daughter's behavior.

"Mother, we beasts usually claim the things we like as our own. What's wrong with Yunlan?" Long Yunlan still refused to give up, glaring at Su Zimo with anger.

"Lord Long, don't think that Nightmare's forgiveness is a form of liberation for you. If something happens to me here, the Beast Continent will be completely destroyed. Without photosynthesis for a hundred years, the vegetation here remains unchanged. It's clear that your ancestors poured their lifelong efforts into this land. If you want the Beast Continent to be ruined by your hands, go ahead and make a move," Su Zimo said, her eyes as sharp as a knife, causing the expressions of those present to change.

"Miss Su, rest assured. With me around, Long Yunlan wouldn't dare to trouble you. Please proceed!" Long Fu understood Su Zimo's intentions. He had already realized that Nightmare had succeeded from the blue light he saw in the man's eyes.

"Dad...!" Long Yunlan shouted unwillingly.

"Shut up! I'll turn you back to your original form, and you'll never be able to shapeshift again," Long Fu said coldly.

Hearing this, a look of disbelief flashed across Long Yunlan's face, and her body involuntarily trembled.

Seeing the situation, Mu Yunxuan didn't say much. He picked up Su Zimo, mounted the Nine-Winged Golden Dragon, and quickly disappeared from the sight of the Long family.

In the early morning of the Moonlight Valley, a layer of white mist covered the sky, creating a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere. Inside the stone cave, Bai Qingjun and Mo Yuntian watched everything through a crystal ball.

Bai Qingjun sat down at the stone table and took a sip of tea before suddenly asking, "Is Mo'er really Jian Mo's reincarnation?"

Mo Yuntian turned his head and glanced at him, a slight smile forming at the corner of his lips.

"It's half true and half not."

Bai Qingjun furrowed his brows upon hearing this. "What do you mean?"

"Nightmare divided Jian Mo's soul into two halves back then. He used his own obsession to accomplish it. Jian Mo, who possessed half of the soul, was reborn but died as well."

A trace of confusion flashed in Bai Qingjun's eyes. "If Jian Mo died, then who is Mo'er? Why did Nightmare's soul enter Mu Yunxuan's body? I'm starting to get confused."

Bai Qingjun's beautiful face frowned, and he looked at Mo Yuntian with a perplexed expression.

"Su Zimo from the Su family is indeed Jian Mo's reincarnation. However, Nightmare and Jian Mo were never destined to be together, while the Mu family has a deep connection with the Dark Demons. That's why the curse has been circulating in the Mu family."

"The curse that the eldest son of the Mu family won't live past the age of twenty, is that really a curse?" Bai Qingjun asked in shock, questioning the existence of the curse in the Mu family.

"It's indeed true. Mu Yunxuan should have died six years ago, but because of Mo'er's appearance, he managed to live on. Do you know why?" Mo Yuntian's face, rarely revealing any emotions, showed a hint of a smile.

Bai Qingjun smiled gracefully, his eyes filled with charm. "Yuntian, you've asked the wrong person. The one who controls everything is you, Mo Yuntian."

"Mo'er's soul comes from an unknown world. It should be the other half of the shattered soul. And the members of the Mu family have the bloodline of the Dark Demons, while Mu Yunxuan carries half of Nightmare's soul. That's why the blue light was able to merge with Mu Yunxuan's body."

Mo Yuntian explained, but his words seemed elusive, leaving Bai Qingjun still somewhat puzzled.

"Does that mean Mu Yunxuan is Nightmare's past life?" Bai Qingjun recalled Nightmare's words about him and Jian Mo being together in their next life.

"Half and half," Mo Yuntian spoke with a deep meaning once again.

"The half and half, what exactly does it amount to? Why do you always speak in riddles? It's quite intriguing," Bai Qingjun said, looking at Mo Yuntian with a hint of reproach. As they had lived together for over a hundred years, except for the few years when he married and had children in the Demon Capital, each pursued their own path. Bai Qingjun devoted himself to cultivation and medical arts, while Mo Yuntian possessed the ability to foresee the future. After all these years, Bai Qingjun still couldn't fully understand him.

"Whether it's intriguing or not doesn't matter. What matters is that they are Su Zimo and Mu Yunxuan," Mo Yuntian's tone carried a tinge of sadness, and a newfound anticipation appeared on his usually calm face.

"I'm getting more confused the more I hear you. You think highly of Mo'er, even more than her master and her father..." Bai Qingjun trailed off.

"Qingjun, Mo'er is my only disciple," Mo Yuntian quickly interrupted Bai Qingjun's words.

A flicker of doubt flashed in Bai Qingjun's eyes. He knew that there were things Mo Yuntian was keeping from him. Twenty years ago, Mo Yuntian suddenly appeared at the Abyss of No Return, and he spent every day there, watching the passage of time. Sometimes, Bai Qingjun would see him sitting alone, staring at an hourglass, his gaze clearly filled with longing for someone.

"You mentioned that Mo'er had a fortuitous encounter this time, but I didn't see anything. Her two sons have surpassed her in cultivation, which must be quite frustrating for her."
