"" Run!!"
With this one word, everyone went into a sudden panic mode. Though they had been expecting this, it still caught them off guard. This made them wonder why they had sentries posted on the gates in the first place. The poor immediately rushed to the gates on the east side of the town while the rich scrambled to pick up a few valuables before bolting out the door. Unfortunately for them, their greed was their downfall. Giant balls of flames rained down on every building, destroying everything in their way. An earthquake tormented the town, getting rid of whatever the fire couldn't. Those who had managed to escape fled to the hills in search for safety. Those who didn't make it to the gates, however, perished in the blazing inferno. Hours passed. Silence was upon the town. A hidden door in the ground opened and a man emerged, followed by a woman and a three year old boy.
"Are they gone?" "I think so. Oh my gosh, just look at this place!" The former town looked more like a pile of rubble than anything, with a little flame flickering here and there, while a great cloud of smoke billowed into the sky. "We have to get out of here," the man stated.
As they walked, they couldn't help but shed tears at the sight of their former home."Wee couldn't save them. Why didn't we when we clearly could?" "Would you rather have let our son die? This place was my home too! But we can't save everyone!" The woman continued," This is our fault in the first place for settling here. We should never have come here. Perhaps they would still be here."
A voice rang out, " That's where you're wrong! We would've killed them all nevertheless."
The parents realized they were surrounded by the enemy. The man who had just spoken, presumably the leader, spoke, " I suggest you surrender peacefully and we will let you live. You are needed alive after all." The woman then whispered, "Grey, do you think we should do this" "I don't think we have a choice." The leader then continued, " I can't say the same for your son though, orders were for us to leave the both of you alive, and ONLY the both of you."
At that, the woman, Martha by name, put her son on the ground an walked to the leader. One couldn't help but notice the air turn cold, and mist begin to form. She spoke slowly but powerfully, " You want to capture us, I'm okay with that. But if you want to kill my son...." she trailed off," Be prepared to die as well," Grey finished. And with that, a fierce battle ensued.
If anyone were standing there, spectating the fight, they would probably think its bullying when two people face a hundred, but it was the complete opposite. Grey and Martha dominated the century of soldiers for most of the fight, till they felt their attacks weakening.
The centurion smiled. " I wasn't made the leader because of my fighting prowess, its because I can poison the air around me, which in turn, weakens those I fight against." He laughed evilly." The orders were to bring you alive. Take them boys. Leave the kid to me."
Martha screamed and wailed as the leader walked over to the child and picked him up and placed a blade to his neck. Surprisingly, the child showed not even the slightest bit of fear." It would be a waste to kill you." He turned to the parents and said," Your son is quite fearless. I won't kill him. I'll make him a slave instead." With that, the leader and the ten soldiers remaining led the trio back to base.
