Chapter 21 - The Concert

In the vibrant city of Robert, Stephanie's concert had just come to an end, and she returned to her resting room where her crew eagerly awaited her.

One of the staff beamed with excitement, exclaiming, "Congratulations, Stephanie! It was an absolute masterpiece tonight!"

Another staff chimed in, "Hundred thousand people were captivated by your performance. It was a show for the ages!"

Stephanie couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. "Thank you, everyone. It means the world to me."

Mark, Stephanie's trusted agent, approached her with a wide smile. "Nice job, Stephanie! Tonight's concert was a resounding success. Your talent and hard work truly shone through."

Stephanie returned the smile, appreciating Mark's words of encouragement. "Yeah, the audience response was even more incredible than I anticipated. I'm glad they enjoyed it."

Mark's expression turned serious as he continued, "However, Secretary Sarah is looking for you. It's urgent. You should go meet her immediately."

Stephanie's excitement waned slightly at the unexpected interruption. "Now? But I just finished the concert."

Mark nodded, empathetic but firm. "I understand, Stephanie, but it's an order from top management. I'm afraid we can't keep Secretary Sarah waiting."

Reluctantly, Stephanie began gathering her belongings, preparing to leave the comforting sanctuary of her resting room. She stepped into the elevator, her mind still filled with the echoes of applause and the energy of the performance. The lift descended, carrying her closer to an unforeseen and perilous encounter.

As the elevator doors opened, Stephanie's eyes caught sight of a figure resembling Secretary Sarah. The woman had her back turned, engaged in a conversation on her phone. Stephanie's curiosity piqued, and she approached quietly, inadvertently overhearing fragments of the conversation.

Sarah's voice carried a chilling tone as Stephanie caught snippets of her words. "Yes, Stephanie is A13. I will send her to Bastian Lab later..."

Stephanie's heart pounded fiercely, and a shiver ran down her spine. The gravity of the situation became painfully clear with Sarah's next words. "If the lab experiment comes out positive, then we will have to sacrifice her, even though she is the top artist in our company right now. Jackson has made it explicitly clear that we need to do whatever it takes to obtain Angel Heart. After all, we can find and build new talents again in the future."

Fear gripped Stephanie's every fiber, and she felt a surge of adrenaline urging her to flee. The weight of the revelation bore down on her, and she knew she had to escape the clutches of those who sought to use her for their own sinister purposes.

Without a second thought, Stephanie turned on her heels and sprinted away, her mind racing with thoughts of survival and the need to uncover the truth. Panic coursed through her veins as she weaved through the bustling corridors, desperately seeking a path to safety.

As Stephanie fled, her surroundings blurred into a hazy backdrop of blurred faces and unknown obstacles. The symphony of her racing heartbeat drowned out all other sounds, and each passing moment only intensified her resolve to unravel the truth and protect herself from the impending threat that loomed over her.

Breathless and wide-eyed, Stephanie continued to sprint through the labyrinthine corridors, her focus fixated on evading capture and discovering the secrets behind Bastian Lab and the enigmatic project known as Angel Heart.

But as Stephanie reached the exit of the building, she was met with a sudden force that knocked her off her feet. Pain shot through her body as she hit the ground, disoriented and vulnerable.

Looking up, Stephanie saw Secretary Sarah's cold gaze fixed upon her, a triumphant smirk adorning her face. "You should have known better than to run, Stephanie," Sarah taunted, her voice laced with malevolence. "Now, you won't be able to escape your fate."

Stephanie's heart sank as she realized she had fallen into a trap. The walls closed in around her, and a feeling of hopelessness washed over her.
