Chapter 1 - Kiss of life

"Adam Lucian, a fiery prince whose dark side had consumed most of him, was the epitome of a formidable warrior.

Emotionless yet peerless in combat, he stood as the first son of King Damien Lucian, the sovereign of the Lahorei Empire. With a tall and slender frame that bore broad shoulders, Adam's commanding presence was undeniable.

His raven-black hair, twisted into a labyrinth of dreadlocks, cascaded down his back, accentuating the intensity of his gaze. Thick, lustrous eyebrows framed his deep-set eyes, granting his visage an alluring beauty. Straight, defined lashes shielded eyes dominated by pupils of a rich, blood-red hue that seemed to swallow the irises. Every feature of his face—from the gracefully set nose to the subtle fullness of his lips—appeared as though it had been meticulously sculpted by a master artisan.

Though he lacked the long, aquiline nose and sparkling blue eyes often lauded as marks of conventional attractiveness, Adam's harmonious features and smooth, caramel skin endowed him with an undeniable allure."

Although Adam appeared human, his dark side had enveloped the majority of his being, for he was born of both human and demonic origins. To understand the complexities of his existence, we must delve into the past...

King Damien Lucian of the Lahorei Empire, Adam's father, had tirelessly sought a queen to share his life and kingdom, but none of the women presented to him managed to ignite a spark within his heart.

Despite his romantic misfortunes, Damien remained dedicated to his role as king and fostered a carefree disposition.

Christopher, Damien's childhood companion and now personal guard, took it upon himself to gather all eligible women from across the kingdom, hoping that one might forge a connection with the discerning monarch.

Unfortunately, even with such a vast array of prospects, Damien could not find anyone who truly resonated with his soul, leaving him yearning for a genuine and profound love.

Throughout his life, Damien had developed a penchant for escaping to the woods at night, seeking solace in the calming embrace of nature.

This habit had formed in his youth when he and Chris would sneak out of the palace, traversing the woods together on clandestine adventures. Even after ascending the throne, Damien continued these nighttime excursions despite the weight of his responsibilities and the increasing concerns voiced by Chris, whose duties had grown in tandem with Damien's new role.

Despite knowing the potential risks, Damien found himself irresistibly drawn to the peace that the woods offered, unable to ignore their alluring call. However, on a particularly overwhelming day such as this, Damien craved the soothing atmosphere of the woods to clear his mind. Sneaking away from Chris's watchful eye, he saddled his horse and galloped towards the tranquil embrace of the forest.

The familiar scent of earth and foliage enveloped him as he dismounted, ambling alongside his steed through the moonlit grove. Crisp autumn leaves crunched beneath his feet, and the cool, silent breath of the night whispered through his flowing garments.

Against the backdrop of the forest's mysterious shadows, Damien's tall and striking figure was swathed in a long black hood, rendering him nearly indistinguishable from the enveloping darkness. His deep brown skin, barely visible against the sable fabric, and dark hair blending seamlessly with the hood, lent him an almost otherworldly, demonic visage.

As Damien ventured further into the heart of the woods, the gentle rustle of leaves joined the lilting melodies of nocturnal creatures, soothing his restless spirit.

A soft breeze, like a lover's caress, toyed with his tresses, teasing the fabric of his attire and playfully ruffling his horse's mane. Eventually, Damien arrived at his treasured sanctuary: the riverside. There, he struck a pensive pose, his legs spaced firmly apart, arms crossed over his chest, and loyal steed standing stoically by his side.

"Hya-ya-ya-ya!" the horse screamed as it ran away. "What is it, Rumi? Wait, come back here!" Damien called out, chasing after the horse. "Rumi! Rumi! Wait, where are you?" He ran as fast as he could, but the horse was nowhere to be found. "What the hell, Rumi? I swear, if I see you, I'm disowning you," Damien muttered, smacking his left palm on his forehead. He looked exhausted and pissed. He walked back to the river's edge, thirsty, and bent down to get a drink.

As the cool, shimmering surface of the river beckoned Damien's parched lips, a sudden, inexplicable sensation arrested his movements. His eyes flickered towards an unexpected ripple, an anomaly amidst the river's gentle flow. A jolt of terror surged through his veins, catapulting him away from the water's edge in a heart-pounding, instinctive reaction. Trembling, he cautiously inched forward, the soft earth beneath him a stark contrast to the pounding within his chest. As he peered into the depths below, a shocking revelation seized him, his eyes widening at the sight of a helpless figure drowning in the river.

Quickly, Damien stood up and jumped into the river, swimming down to reach the drowning girl. "She's so pretty," he thought as he grabbed her hand and swam back to the shore.

He laid her down in a supine position on the riverbank. The girl was beautiful, with fair skin that looked delicate, and loosely braided hair that spread out around her face as she lay there. Damien swept her hair off her face, revealing her small, beautiful lips, which were two different shades. He tried to wake her up, gently slapping her cheek repeatedly.

"Young lady, wake up," Damien said, hoping to rouse her."

"Despite Damien's efforts, the drowned girl remained unconscious. Confused and desperate, he tried everything he could think of to wake her up, but nothing worked.

Suddenly, he remembered the kiss of life—a first aid technique for reviving drowned people. He wiped his lips with the back of his hand and gazed at the beautiful girl lying on the ground. With a lick of his lips, he moved his head closer to hers. Carefully, he opened her mouth to pass air into it, his own lips mere inches away from hers..."
