Max inadvertently touched her hand while helping, a moment of silent understanding passing between them.
"It's okay. You were trying to save your loved ones," Max reassured her.
They continued digging in silence while Serena pulled Aaron aside, her voice lowered as she whispered.
"Do you really want to stick with this girl?" Serena questioned.
Aaron defended his choice, "She has nowhere to go, Serena."
"So? She betrayed us, Garry and Ben died," Serena muttered anxiously, her hands fidgeting. Aaron sensed her panic and gently held her hand. She looked at him expectantly.
Struggling to find the right words, Aaron stammered, leaving Serena somewhat unsatisfied. "You don't know how to comfort, do you?" she teased. Aaron looked down in defeat, and Serena chuckled as she gazed at Aaron's innocent expression. Her eyes then landed on his hand.
