It may mean you take a hit to your research because Gabriel's paying too much attention to Summers, but you can't take Summers away from him. "We can hide her up here, now that Blankenship won't have access to it any more."
Gabriel beams like the sun. "Thank you, professor, you won't regret it, this is amazing! She can stay in my room, I've got a private one this semester, but I can stash her here when I'm in the building." He sets the creature down, who trundles about like the weird offspring of a porcupine and a sea anemone. "Besides, she's great at hiding." He claps his hand. With a "meep!" and a quiet pop, Summers opens a rift and climbs inside, vanishing from view. If you didn't know where to look, you wouldn't see the wavering thread-like line that marks where Summers pushed herself out of your dimension.
"That will be helpful," you admit.
Gabriel reaches a hand into the rift. After a moment, Summers trundles back out and hides behind his legs. "Sir, am I going to have to go back to working for Dr. Blankenship?"
