That doesn't sit well with Blankenship at all. "I would never force a fellow practitioner out of their space. But this lab was mine before it was yours, and I, too, deserve a chance to perform my research."
Dr. Ellison's glare keeps you from responding. "While I do not like how Dr. . expressed his opinion, I agree that this space is insufficient for two independent research efforts. Don't worry, Bob, I have alternate space we can use."
"But I need to—" Blankenship takes a deep breath. "Sorry. I know my return has put strain on everyone. I'll respect both of your decisions."
Gabriel looks increasingly more anxious. His box is making scrabbling noises again. You tell the others, "If you don't mind, I need to discuss some research with Gabriel."
While Blankenship looks, well, blank, Dr. Ellison gets the hint. "Thank you for your time, Dr. .."
Blankenship follows Dr. Ellison out, pausing only to take one last look at the lab space and say, "Didn't I have books stored in here?"
