Dr. Ellison says, "Drs. Bozeman and ., a word?" She pulls the two of you into the hall, away from the other attendees. "I don't know what the two of you were doing during Dr. Lewis's speech, nor do I need to know. But you weren't as unnoticed as you might have thought. In the future, kindly do better."
"Yes, ma'am," Darcy says. For once, she looks contrite.
Dr. Ellison smiles. "If there is one bright side to what you did, it is in seeing two of my best students getting along once more." Without another word, she walks back into the Derby Room.
"Huh." Darcy stares out the large windows into the night-shrouded parking lot in front of the building. "I thought I was being clever."
