Back in your office, you take stock of what you could work on this afternoon. You could work on setting up your research lab. You made a great start by setting up protected research areas, but there's much more to be done. Then there's your new class. Finally, you've got a paper to review. The sooner you get that done, the happier Dr. Ellison will be.
Before you can go to your lab, a knock interrupts you.

You don't recognize the brown-skinned student in the doorway. He's wearing a striped polo shirt and chinos, and he stands as if he'd like to blend into the wall so no one would notice him. "Uh, Dr. .?" he says.
"Classes don't start until next week," you reply, not really paying attention to him.
"I, uh, right." He doesn't say anything more, but he also doesn't leave.
You sigh. "May I help you?"
"I'm Gabriel Sanchez. I think I'm your student now?"
