Dr. Cohen's office, like all the other offices in this old building, is only secured by an old-fashioned lock on the door handle. All you need to do is look up online how to pick a lock.
The three of you hunch around the desk's computer and read up on binding pins and tension wrenches. Darcy has bobby pins like a 1920s flapper, so you're set on tools. Once you're convinced you're ready, you say, "C'mon, let's do this now while Dr. Cohen's teaching her summoning class."
"Won't Dr. Leathertree notice you're gone?" Manish asks Darcy, then realizes how silly he's being. "Never mind."
Let the Heist Begin
At the door to Dr. Cohen's office, you bend two bobby pins into an L and a hook. Darcy leans against the wall next to you. "You know, the door has a large frosted glass window in it. Perfect for smashing."
"You're not going to do that, right?" Manish asks.
"Hush, you two," you say.
Manish looks up and down the hall, broadcasting nervousness on all bands. You ignore him and focus on the bobby pins. You slide the hook into the lock, followed by the L wrench.
Probing for the binding pins is tedious. Good thing pattern magic students are used to ignoring weird goings-on, as none of the passing students even look at the three of you. You probe and twist, probe and twist, until the lock rotates open. Quiet satisfaction fills you.
