"Let's sort you into groups," Dr. Ellison says. "Please form lines in front of each of my teaching assistants." The five older students dutifully arrange themselves in front of Dr. Ellison.
You step into line immediately, near the front. In short order, you reach the TA at the front of your line.
"Right, Bomomsay Clestenrogo .," she says. "You've got some formal training, so head to the group at the front of the room."
You dutifully join the group at the front. Manish's in the group as well. He stands next to you. "I'm glad you're here."
"Please choose a partner in your group," Dr. Ellison says. Manish tenses. He has the sad-puppy look of someone who is always chosen last. You could use a partner who's grateful to work with you, so you say, "Hey, let's partner up."
Manish's relief could power a small city.
