Will smiles broadly, ignoring the chorus of laughter and indelicate comments from the others, punctuated by shushing from Romilly.
The pair of you wander aimlessly around the school grounds, with no destination in mind. You pass the occasional group of vampires or werewolves, who greet you with a nod while giving Will's Head Boy badge curious glances.
Finally, you reach a secluded area of the grounds, in the shade of the one of the stone walls surrounding Cavalcade Academy. There aren't any students in sight, and you both settle against the wall, enjoying the day's warmth.
After some time, Will glances at you. "You know," he says, "it's been an experience, knowing you."
You smile. "Not had to grapple with the forces of hell before I showed up here, then?"
"Not literally." Will shifts position, getting comfier. "Although, I have to say, the Year Eight girls could show those demons a thing or two about pure evil."
"I guess the living and the undead both have their monsters."
Will nods. Then, after a moment, he turns to look at you. "Do you like it here?" he asks. "I mean…I guess it's still tough for me to imagine what it's like normally."
Ah," Will says. "So apart from the vampires, the werewolves, the ghost, the zombie, the evil vice principal, and the pit to hell…it's like anywhere else."
You consider this for a moment, then nod. "The food's better than the last place I went, I suppose. Otherwise, sure."
The pair of you sit in silence for a while, simply enjoying the sunshine. There doesn't seem to be any sound at all from either school. If anyone's making noise, they're too far away for you to hear.
Finally, Will turns towards you again. "Penny for your thoughts?"
