If you play your hand too early, Renzfal and Lady Rastan will see you coming, and it will all have been for nothing. You need to bide your time, to wait until the right moment. Then, just possibly, you might be able to make a difference, to end all of this.
Lady Rastan continues to chant, her voice rising into feverish ecstasy. As you watch from where you're still sprawled on your back, you see Renzfal's outline begin to fade: you can see the mountains through his great chest, growing more and more defined.
You turn to stare at your aunt's body. It's stirring now, starting to shudder as though wracked by electricity. You see one thin hand clench into a fist, the neatly trimmed nails starting to shift into sharp black claws.
As quietly as possible, you push yourself to your feet, starting to move forward. Lady Rastan's back is still turned to you, and you speed up, breaking into a run as you dart towards your aunt's twitching body.
Lady Rastan spins around, the words of her incantation dying on her lips. "No!" she cries. "NO!!" Her hand stretches out, its fingers pointed at you, but it's too late: you've reached your Aunt's body, and with a single hard shove, you've sent it rolling over the edge of the plateau.
"NOOO!!" Lady Rastan's scream is full of fury and despair. She dives forward, reaching desperately for the falling body, even as you scramble away from the edge, right into her path.
A knee strikes you hard in the head, knocking you to the ground as pain stabs through your skull. As your vision slips out of focus, you hear another scream and see a dark shape go plummeting out of sight.
By the time your sight has refocused itself, there's only silence.
After a few moments, you force yourself into a sitting position. Everything hurts, and you can't imagine that it's going to stop hurting anytime soon.
But you're alive, and the world is safe.
You can imagine worse ways for this to end.
