"Worthy?" you ask.
The being raises its hand, about to place its palm upon the door, then stops. "My master does not like needless distractions," it replies finally. "If he is to accept visitors, then he would like to be…entertained."
This said, its pale flesh makes contact with the door. With a thunderous crack, a split appears in the door's dark rock, gradually widening as the two sides of the door part.
Beyond it, you see nothing. It's not even darkness: even darkness would have some sort of presence. What you see, somehow, is an absence of anything that your eyes could fix on, an absence so great that your skin crawls to see it.
This, apparently, is what you have won.

With a deep breath, gathering all of your courage, you step forward.
The nothingness envelops you utterly, hiding any trace of your body from view. You could swear, just for a moment, that it flows higher up your arm before you've moved the limb deeper into it. Everything in your mind is screaming for you to step back, or even to scramble away, but you continue forward, stepping further into the void.
With your next step, the nothingness moves up your neck and over your face. Even as the panic begins to spread over your body, threatening to take control of you completely, you lose sight of everything, and the feeling of any surface under your feet vanishes as well.
It's as though you're suspended in the void you've walked into, not supported by or attached to anything: entirely isolated. It's…oddly peaceful. If it wasn't for the fact of what you've just come through, or what you're heading towards, you could almost enjoy it.
And then you've arrived.
