You step towards Grace, who eyes you warily. "Look," you say, keeping your voice light, even friendly. "I know it can't have been easy. But you need to see things from our perspective. As far as we know, you've been a part of this extremely dangerous threat that we're all facing. Which, I hope you can appreciate, could make some of Cavalcade Academy feel none too friendly towards you."
Grace's eyes get, if possible, even wider, but you continue, ignoring the pointed look that Will sends your way. "So if I was you, and I had a vested interest in certain people not deciding to settle any scores, I'd be extremely obliging." You offer her a bright, cheerful smile. "Wouldn't you?"
She stares at you for a few seconds, but you can see that the fear has already gone to work on her. Then, slowly, she nods.
"Good," you say. "Glad we understand one another."
"Right," Michelle says briskly. "Now that that's all sorted, should we get the hell out of here?"
"Hang on," Will says. "Shouldn't we talk about how we're going to get back through this place? I mean…it doesn't seem like it's going to be a walk in the park."
Grace shrugs, looking around at the rest of your group. "It's always been okay when I've come here."
"We've had a slightly different experience," Max explains, his voice grim.
Sonia nods. "Fair enough. Say there's something that wants to make sure we don't get out. What then?" She looks at you. "I say we fight our way out."
"That'll work for you," Will counters. "Some of us aren't going to be much good in a scrap. Can't we just…I don't know, slip out quietly?"
"Or just run like hell before whatever else might be out there realizes that we're there," Max says. "That way, only the slowest ones get caught. Perfectly fair."
