You set off, moving towards the forest in a reflective silence. By chance, you find yourself walking beside Will. The Head Boy, you can't help but notice, is regarding you with considerable interest.
"How do you do it?"
You look at Will. "How do I do what?"
"How do you get them to listen to you?" He gestures vaguely at Sonia and Max, directly ahead. "I've never known the undead to do what a human says."
Will nods. "I see," he says. "Focus on the job. Get this done, save the day, home in time for tea and medals?"
You nod, somewhat noncommittally. Your mind's less on tea and medals and more on the faint possibility of Lady Rastan not finding some reason to be particularly annoyed with you.
It's hard to tell if saving the world will be enough.
Your band carries on in silence towards the forest. There's the definite feeling among the group that no one wants to be the one to cause an argument, and you wonder whether your escape from the headmaster has become a sort of shared trauma that's allowed you all to find some common ground.
Either that or no one has the energy for a row right now.
Finally, you reach the forest, coming to a halt.
