Romilly glances uncertainly at Will, then looks back at you, giving a quick nod. "I'll tell them as much as I can," she says. "I mean, I'm not sure how useful any of it will be, and I might have forgotten something."
"Oh, that's no problem," Max says cheerfully. "Lady Rastan can read your mind and drag the memories right out of you. Just try not to let your mind dwell on anything embarrassing or romantic, and you'll be fine."
Romilly's eyes widen, but she doesn't protest.
Fritz opens the door, holding it for Val and Romilly, who move out into the corridor. Then, with a quick nod to your party, he closes the door behind him.
"Well," Sonia says after a moment, "that just leaves us with the little matter of finding wherever your headmaster's stashed his clues."
Will clears his throat before asking, somewhat hesitantly, "Did you try behind the painting?" Receiving blank looks, he points at the third painting from the left, detailing what appears to be a particularly dour former headmaster of St. Mary's, who's glaring balefully at the lot of you.
Max, who's closest to the painting, touches the frame, which swings soundlessly open. Behind it, set into the wall, is a modestly sized safe.
In the silence that follows, Sonia's voice sounds unnaturally loud. "Does anyone know how to get that thing open?"
Renault floats forward. "No need." Without much formality, he reaches the safe door and sticks his head right through it. Will gasps, albeit quietly.
