"Well," Max says as you emerge into the bright sunlight, "that was a bust."
Michelle nods. "Things can't always go smoothly," she says, "though it would have been a nice change." She shrugs, looking at you. "What now?"
You answer the shrug with one of your own, looking around. "Keep looking, I suppose," you say. "Be as quiet as possible and hope we get lucky."
"Luck," Sonia says as though the word's an expletive. "I guess you never know."
You duck back out of sight as a group of students moves past you, emerging again once they're gone.
"Wherever we're going," you say, "we'd best get under some cover; we're sticking out a bit currently."
So you set out, ducking from building to building, eavesdropping on conversations, trying to spot any students who are on their own. You don't get much: the hallways are empty. You have to assume that there are classes of some kind going on.
"Reckon the others are making more progress?" Fritz asks. "Remember, there might not even be anything here."
None of the rest of you reply. You don't need to—you're all thinking the same thing.

You stare around the corridor, looking for options. There's a single door that seems to lead to a supply closet, and that's about it as far as options go.
