Michelle doesn't seem to be scrutinizing you all that closely. She clearly has plenty on her own mind.
After a moment, she pushes her way through the door.
Blinking in the cold light that hits your eyes, you follow Michelle into the room.
You've become accustomed enough to Cavalcade Academy's bending of space and time to whatever will exists within the school, and so you're unsurprised by the vast scale of the room, which far exceeds what it should be able to.
Large machines line the walls, filling the room with an electric humming. Vials bubble and hiss.
In the center of the room, a figure is straightening up, pushing a pair of goggles up onto their forehead. They're short, wearing a white lab coat, with a wild frizz of hair tied back with what you'd swear is a stethoscope. Their skin, bleached and drained from what you imagine have been some long hours indoors, shines in the harsh light.
"Yes? What is this?" the figure asks, their brilliant blue eyes giving you a keen stare. Their accent's so thick and jagged that you think it might be causing you some sort of mild physical harm.
"Morning, Matron," Michelle says, leaning against what looks like an iron maiden. "Kan here had a vision of some kind. We thought that we should get it checked out."
Matron's eyes haven't moved off you. You meet their gaze, trying not to look away. "A vision," they say eventually. "Now, that is interesting."
With surprising speed, they cross the floor towards you. Before you can move, a pair of wire-strong fingers have you by the head, tugging your eyelids open so that Matron can look inside.
