You look at the ranks of the students in front of you, trying to come up with a good game plan. After a moment, you make your decision. You select Sonia first, followed by Michelle, then Max. As you suspected, Molander selects his team more from the vampire population, giving you the best choice of the werewolves.
Once your team is complete, you gather them together. "All right," you say, "we take out Molander first; he seems to be the one giving them instructions. Sonia, you know the vampires: Who do we want out of the game next?"
With Sonia's help, you quickly compile a list of targets. "Cold-blooded," the vampire comments, giving you a sharp smile. "I can sympathize."
Mr. Simmons's whistle goes off again, provoking a heartfelt groan from Sonia and a whimper from Max. Then the game is on.
As you'd instructed, everyone aims their first shot at Molander, and he goes down. Before you can celebrate, however, a ball sails past Max's head, just missing him.
With a growl of irritation, he returns fire at the unfortunate vampire who targeted him, unleashing a throw that sends a dodgeball directly into the crotch of his adversary. This break from the strategy, however, has left the rest of you open to attack, and the opposition is quick to take advantage.
Sonia is struck by a ball, and, crimson eyes blazing with frustration, she tosses one at Max, which proves to be enough of a distraction for him to get eliminated too.
With Max and Sonia shouting at each other in the background, you, Michelle, and the others do your best, but you're quickly overcome. Your only consolation is that your crushing defeat is reasonably quick. From the sentiments that Max and Sonia are exchanging, it feels unlikely that you've done much to promote unity and goodwill.
"So," Michelle says, walking up to you, "how are you finding your fellow students so far?
