Chapter 15 - welcome party

After lunch, Arthur strolled around the second floor. He glanced inside the employees' office and noticed some litter, like plastic cups. He saw this as an opportunity to move around discreetly.

He entered the office and started picking up the trash.

"Hey, cleaner!" Suddenly, a voice called out from a desk.

"Me?" Arthur looked at the lady and pointed to himself.

"Is there any other cleaner besides you?"

He looked around and shook his head. "Nope."

"Then come here."

"Yes, miss." He stood beside the lady who was typing on her computer.

"Bring me some coffee," she ordered.

"Is it also my job to fetch coffee?"

"Yes." The lady rolled her eyes and returned to her computer. "Hurry up, I'm busy."

"Yes."

As Arthur left, the lady glanced at his back. "So handsome."

After a while, he headed to the coffee machine in the break room. He carried the coffee back to the lady.

"There are so many errors. Are you even working? Or are you here just to show off your looks? Where is your focus while working!"

Arthur placed the coffee down. "What happened?" Arthur asked.

"She's Shina. That old geezer you see there wants to have his way with her, but she rejected him. Now, he's finding excuses to harass her. I don't think she'll last long."

"Oh."

"And of course, I haven't used my charms to please the big boss either," she added, as if worried Arthur would misunderstand.

Arthur thanked her and walked towards the break room. He took a cup of coffee and headed towards Shina's desk.

"I didn't ask for this," Shina weakly smiled at Arthur.

"I think you need it," Arthur placed the coffee on her desk. "Thanks," she murmured.

"You seem to be having a tough time. I feel sorry for you," Arthur expressed his empathy.

"You seem nice. Nicer than these people." She sighed. "Let's have a little chat, little handsome." She took the coffee and walked toward the break room.

Arthur followed her.

In the break room, She sat on the chair and smoked.

"You smoke? I don't think it's suitable for a beauty like you," Arthur commented.

"Sit," she motioned for him to join her. "I didn't want to smoke either. But this working life is so stressful."

Arthur sat down and took a cigarette from her. "Then let me join you." He took a puff.

"You advise me, but you smoke too," she giggled.

"As you said, stress," Arthur shrugged.

"You're interesting," Shina remarked.

"Just a little," he replied.

She sighed. "That old geezer always looks at my bust. Am I that attractive?"

"Of course you are. You're pretty, and I don't think any man can resist you," Arthur complimented her.

"Really? Thanks," Shina smiled.

"Do you want to change jobs?" Arthur asked.

"I do. But it's the same everywhere. If there's a male boss, they'll try to get their way with their female employees. Many women who prioritize money end up sleeping with them. It boosts their confidence, and they think every girl is the same. This world is cruel," Shina expressed her frustrations.

"I know. How cruel the world can be," Arthur empathized.

"Are you single?" Shina suddenly asked.

"Yes. Who would like someone poor like me?" Arthur replied.

"Love doesn't depend on money. If you're interested, would you like to date me?" Shina grabbed Arthur's hand.

Arthur was genuinely stunned. "I don't think I'm worthy of you."

"Really? I think you are," Shina insisted.

Just as the moment seemed to escalate, the door suddenly swung open. A male employee entered with a grim expression.

"Huh? Who let a cleaner in this break room?" he angrily lashed out at Arthur. "Do you think you're even worthy of being here? If you don't want to be here, get out!"

Before Shina could speak, Arthur quickly stood up. "Sorry, I was just cleaning around," he apologized.

He swiftly left the break room and made his way back to the second floor.

Rosh, the coworker approached him. "Where were you? It's your first day, and you're already skipping work," Rosh scolded.

"Sorry, sorry," Arthur apologized.

"Then get me those cigarettes," Rosh demanded, showing him the packet. "Meet me at the break room beside the bathroom."

Without offering any money, Rosh left, expecting Arthur to fulfill the request. Arthur smiled and went outside to buy it.

After taking a cigarette for himself. He then entered the break room.

"If you want to get promoted, you should please your seniors," Rosh advised.

"Really?" Arthur asked, interested in learning more.

"Yes, do you think being a manager requires qualifications? It's all about money and connections," Rosh revealed.

"oh…" Arthur was curious.

"Wanna know more."

"yes."

"Light the cigarette."

Arthur lit the cigarette. He smoked casually.

"You know there's a head in the HR department, he gave a million dollars to the branch leader just to get this position.

Sales manager gave his own daughter to him to get this position.

Public relation department head… she slept with many managers and CEO to get that position…even our leader…he was lackey of previous. So he got this position. It's all about benefits here."

"Oh..." Arthur nodded, processing the information.

"It's the best time to pack up and leave this place. We should do the same. Also, come early tomorrow to clean the entire place," Rosh suggested.

Arthur took in Rosh's words, considering the situation and what he had learned so far.

"Sure."

When they arrived on the first floor, the leader called them.

"Since you're new here, we've decided to hold a welcome party for you."

"Thank you very much."

___

On Elsa's side...

After exploring around, she exited the building.

"Ms. Elsa, wait." A young man walked toward her. His face looked cool and handsome, although not as much as Arthur.

He wore a suit and flashed his Rolex watch. He had a chain bracelet and played with his Lamborghini key.

He was obviously a wealthy kid close to Arthur's age.

"I'm the CEO of this company, George."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, sir. Thank you very much for the job you provided me."

"It's a small matter. Your beauty has greatly attracted me. Would you like to have dinner together?"

"Yes," Elsa said, her cheeks turning slightly red.

'He's too cringy!'

During dinner, they sat near each other.

"Mr. George, are you very wealthy?"

"Yes," he said, flashing his gold. "You can become wealthy too."

"Really..." Elsa smiled.

"Of course." He attempted to grab her hand, but she pulled back.

"It's too early, Mr. George. We should take things slowly."

In the pub—

Arthur sat on the ground. There was a large round table with eight people seated around it.

Some were males, and some were females. They were all young.

"Cheers to our new member, Arthur!"

"Cheers!"

"Thank you all."

Arthur also raised his glass and downed the beer in one gulp.

All the girls gathered around Arthur, making the males envious.

"You're very handsome, Arthur. Do you have a girlfriend?"

"No," Arthur answered.

"Really? You're so handsome. If you were a bit wealthy, no girl could resist you."

"Indeed."

The girls asked him for his contact info.

After a while, the party came to an end. Many people staggered as they walked outside.

Rina and Rene walked alongside Arthur, grabbing his arms for support.

"Arthur... Let's go... to a motel," Rina said, her voice trembling.

"Yes," Rene agreed, tightly holding onto Arthur's arms.

Arthur nodded.

____________

On Elsa's side...

"Let's say goodbye, Mr. George. If you don't mind, let's have dinner tomorrow too."

"Of course."

Elsa and George bid farewell. Before leaving, Elsa accidentally grabbed George's shoulder.

"Sorry, I slipped."

"It's okay." George smiled.

As Elsa's figure faded away, he sneered.

"Boss, if you want, I can drug her," a mature woman in her thirties, the owner of the voice, suggested.

"Nah. This woman can be entertaining sometimes. I want to savor her slowly." He hugged her waist. "But for today, I have you."

The woman blushed.

___

"Nice. He can act splendidly." Ana clapped her hands.

The restaurant was bought by Arthur, and all the devices were set up to record George and Elsa.

"This isn't too bad." She chuckled, glancing at George.
