Chapter 28 - Chapter 27 - Attack of the Armadillons (3)

"Lads! Today, we either beat these bastards up or die protecting our home. Today…. Is a good day to die!" The village militia's spirit rose after hearing the bald, middle-aged man's speech. They all lifted their makeshift spears and yelled, "Ou!" simultaneously. "Heh, don't even bother. I alone would be enough," Wortel said. "Come and get it, ya bastard!" Wortel took out his halbert. Jumping high, Wortel brandished his halbert downward, creating a crater between the Armadillons. "Seriously, that guy….." Eliza shook her head in exasperation. "Let's back him up," Gilbert said after unsheathing his rapier. Just like before, a chilly and dark aura enveloped Gilbert. Immediately after, Gilbert dashed toward a nearby Armadillon. "Ha!" Gilbert forcefully shoved his rapier into one of the Armadillon, causing blood to splurt all over Gilbert's face.

"On your side," Eliza nocked an arrow that went straight into the Armadillon's chest. "Thanks," Gilbert smiled with blood all over his face. "Wipe the blood from your face before you smile," Eliza said before nocking another arrow at another approaching Armadillon. "Sorry," Gilbert took out a small handkerchief from his pocket to wipe the Armadillon's blood on his face. "Tch, stop flirting in the middle of the battlefield," Wortel clicked his tongue. "Yah!" Wortel twirled his halbert around his body, instantly killing the Armadillons around him. "We are not flirting," Eliza and Gilbert said at the same time. "Yeah, yeah, whatever," Wortel shrugged his shoulders. "You haven't seen anything yet. You know when we are flirting," Eliza sneered before nocking another arrow toward an approaching Armadillon's head. Gilbert had a blush on his face hearing what Eliza had said to Wortel.

Wortel looked at the two of them in disbelief, "You guys have gone that far?" he asked while casually dispatching another batch of Armadillon that came at him. "We have loved each other since our childhood. Of course, we've gone that far," Eliza puffed out her slightly ample chest. Gilbert's face became even redder, "Uh, Eliza. Can you please not say that kind of thing?" Eliza pouted and crossed her arms, "Why not? We've got to show others how much we love each other, or they won't know." Wortel shook his head before thrusting his halbert right past Eliza's cheek. "W-what?" Shocked, Eliza turned around and found an Armadillon dead, pierced by Wortel's halbert. "Pay attention to your surroundings," Wortel reminded. "I-I know that," Eliza said with a slight stutter before readying her bow. "Thanks, Wortel," Gilbert said. "Don't mention it," Wortel replied.

Meanwhile, the bald, middle-aged militia and the rest of the village militia all looked at Wortel, Gilbert, and Eliza's performances with awe. They could not help but gulp and swallow their saliva. "What she said earlier was true. We are nothing compared to them," said one of the village militia. "They are amazing. Look at that. Not a single one of those monsters managed to get past them," said another village militia while pointing his finger. "Yeah. They don't need us here," another village militia chimed in. Seeing the low morale of the militia, the bald, middle-aged militia clicked his tongue. And just before he could say anything, a couple of Armadillons broke through from Wortel, Gilbert, and Eliza's blockade.

"No! They are coming straight at us."

"What should we do?"

The bald middle-aged militia gritted his teeth at his comrades' behavior. "Lads!"
