Chapter 18 - Chapter 17 - Darug Village (3)

"Don't leave a single monster alive!" Stephanie shouted as she pointed toward the monsters. "Hah," Wortel snickered, "This is what I've been waiting for. I'm about to fall asleep on the bus, but entertainment always comes knocking. Here I come!" He dashed out of the bus with his weapon in tow. Like his hair, Wortel's weapon was orange. A long pole with an axe head attached on the tip, a halbert, was Wortel's weapon of choice.

"Hahaha! Is that all you've got?" Wortel mowed down the armadillo-like monsters easily with a wide grin on his face. "Seriously, that guy…." Gilbert scratched the back of his head. "Where did he even put that halbert?" Eliza questioned. Rie squinted her eyes. Seeing Wortel taking out that many enemies did not sit right with her. "I'm going too," Rie said softly. She took out her daggers before joining Wortel outside. Rie and Wortel defeated the armadillo-like monsters with ease. Their teamwork was immaculate, considering they did not get along with each other. "Are we even needed out there?" Gilbert sighed. "Let's just get this over with," Eliza took out her bow. She loaded it with an arrow before nicking it just in time as when Wortel was about to hit a monster.

Wortel turned his head toward Eliza, "Hey, that's my kill!" Eliza snickered, "You snooze, you lose." Gilbert unsheathed his rapier as his aura turned gloomy and dark. "Support me, Eliza," Gilbert said. He shot out from the bus with his rapier pointing forward. The tip of his rapier was surrounded by some black glow as it pierced the head of one of the armadillo monsters. "Sure thing," Eliza nocked two more arrows. "Get away from him!" Eliza released the two arrows, hitting the armadillo monsters cleanly in the head, preventing two armadillo monsters from approaching Gilbert. "You're not joining them?" Dorothy asked while taking out her staff. "I am about to," I unsheathed my trusty sword from its scabbard. I scanned the area with my eyes. The armadillo-like monsters rampaged everywhere, damaging the previously beautiful place.

Wortel did a good job of rounding and taunting the armadillo-like monsters. Rie was skillfully picking out weakened monsters from their confrontation with Wortel. Meanwhile, Gilbert and Eliza held their position near the civilians' hiding place. However, there were still some armadillo-like monsters spilling toward the highway. "You're thinking what I'm thinking?" Dorothy asked. "I should be," I nodded. "Good. I'll support you from afar," Dorothy said. "Thanks," I flashed a smile before dashing away. My destination? The highway, of course. Arriving before the armadillo-like monsters, I smirked, "Going somewhere?" I brandished my sword, taking the life of two armadillo-like monsters.

Just as I did that, Dorothy chanted a spell that rosen the ground behind me. "Nowhere left to run. Begone!" I said a chuunibyou line. My eyes flashed, and the armadillo-like monsters were slain with each swing of my blade. "God, those lines are cringy," I shook my head at my own thoughts. I continued to stand on the highways, slaying the armadillo-like monsters that managed to escape from Wortel and Rie's grasp. After a while, the horde of armadillo-like monsters were successfully subdued by us. "That was a good warm-up," Wortel cracked his neck.
