Chapter 8 - Augh-

"You make me upset."

"Why?"

"Because you brought me out here, in the middle of nowhere!" Iris shouted dramatically spreading out her hands, emphasizing the point she's trying to make.

"Come on just wait a bit more, trust me, it's worth it." Hero said patting a spot for Iris to sit next to him on the blanket. "Fine, it better be worth it." she huffed and crossed her arms and legs while sitting next to Hero.

It was silent for around an hour before Iris threw her arms up, "I give up I'm going home." Hero gently grabbed her arm and gave her puppy eyes, "Pleaseeee stay." he whimpered. she rolled her eyes and sat back down. "What are we waiting for."

"You'll see."

"So how was your day."

"I was dragged out of the bed first thing in the morning and was forced to go to the dessert and sit down in the middle of nowhere."

"Okay so light convo isn't going to work in this situation."

"Does it ever work?"

"Sometimes it does."

They sat silently again,

"Hey look a bird."

"Shut up."

"Yes ma'am."

They sat down longer.

"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?"

"Have I ever told you how annoying you are?"

"All the time."

They were silent again. Hero wasn't enjoying the silence much and was worried Iris would leave soon. He knows he can't keep her back any longer, so he basically prayed for the event to happen.

"Alright I'm leaving."

"Wait!" he shouted, Iris got up and Hero followed her,

"YARGGHHHH"

A loud gush of energy exploded behind them, Iris and Hero quickly turned around, Hero raised his arms in excitement and grabbed Iris's hand dragging her to the green explosion. He picked her up bridal style and ran faster, he activated one of his speed enhancer abilities and zoomed closer. He spun around and threw Iris into the explosion,

"AWAHHHHH"

Hero leapt into the guizer and laughed as he enjoyed this over whelming feeling of energy, "I bet you want to monetize off of this."

"Yeah, this feels amazing!" Iris shouted back.

"I knew you would like this, unfortunately for you, you can't monetize off of this. This event is an anomaly, that only exist because I'm here." Hero said as both swirled around in the air,

"What does that mean."

"I'll explain one day."

Though Iris completely understands why her enemy won't explain to her how this big burst of energy came from she was still upset about him speaking in riddles.

"I hate you."

"I know."

Soon the guizer died down and they were slowly lowered to the ground.

"This was fun wasn't it, and I know you feel 10x better than usual."

"Yeah!"

"This effect will last you five days, though I should warn you, when it's over you're going to feel awful for awhile."

"Pardon?"

Iris laid on the floor in the middle of the hallways, all of her tools sprawled out everywhere, she felt terrible, way worst than she expected.

"Why didn't you warn me before throwing me into the guizer?"

Hero laid next to her, exhausted,

"I didn't want to ruin the surprise." Iris had absolutely no strength to even insult him.

Zeke was dusting the shelf of the bookstore, Alex was sitting on the couch enjoying a nice book with some tea, "Hey Zeke, I was thinking of writing a story, can you tell me of one of your adventures."

"Before or after I met Hero."

"How about before."

Zeke pondered for a bit biting his lip as he thought,

"I guess I can tell you about how I met Hero."

'The dark musky atmosphere of that disgusting abandoned farmhouse still gives me the shivers every time I think about it. It always amazes me whenever I remember that hero once called this place home as though he never experienced a life better than this, and I can't help but assume this is the truth. I walked up the stairs of the old farm, searching for the sacred sword that was rumored to have been spotted here. The walk up those stairs felt like it took hours to walk up, and the air was getting heavier and heavier. My body was basically to the floor when I reached the last step. I looked around the room and spotted Hero in the corner of the room, laying in a bed. It seemed like this energy was coming from him. "Hey, you, don't tell me you're a monster." I complained reaching for my bow and arrow. I shot at him. The arrow went straight through him as he blinked in and out of existence. I could tell that it hurt him, but I was shocked to see such a thing. It seemed like he could bend reality. Hero got up slowly from the bed and stumbled towards me, though he couldn't move far. He tripped on his foot and fell in front of me, paralyzed. Then he blacked out. When he fell asleep, I took the liberty to examine the room. The sword was nowhere to be seen, however I put two and two together and figure out what happened, "Don't tell me this kid absorbed the sword, the legend says that only those with a high compression of energy can do that." after this I decided to take the kid with me. I placed him in the back of my wagon and started traveling. Soon the kid woke up, "W-where am I?" he asked duly,

"Oh, so you're finally awake. I took you away from that awful place. Don't attack me or anything, I will return you back after I get that sword from you."

"How do you know I have the sword?"

"I know the legend and put two and two together, that pressure you were exuding was impressive."

Hero was silent for a bit, he looked down and noticed the wound on him, I noticed it too.

"Oh, sorry about that, you kind of freaked me out, I thought you were a monster."

He picked up one of the flowers that was in the cart and took a bite of it, he instantly healed. his wound,

"I am a monster." he simply stated. It shocked me, just what all can this kid do. I don't get why he called himself a monster, and I still don't.'

"That's really how the two of you met."

"Yeah, truthfully I wanted to tell someone this story for a while, you know, to see if I'm crazy or not."

"After seeing what Hero can do in person I 100% believe what you're saying." Alex said astonished, Zeke laughed at this for a while and went back to tending the books.

Hero sat hunched over his desk, reading the last bit of the scrolls. His brain was pounding, he was glad he caught the event of the energy guizer, it helped him breeze through all the scrolls without falling unconscious. He read the last word on the scroll as a barrage of information gushed into his mind. It was too much to handle as his head slammed onto the desk.
