Chapter 425 - The Library: Religion

"Okay, Religion it is, as the commenter has not specified what part of the lore they would like to hear about," But hey, thanks for that, you've saved us as one of the only two people who seems to write comments.

"Quite right, now let's get to the topic at hand," The Librarian said as he snapped his fingers, summoning a book from one of the countless shelves of The Library. The book floated gracefully into his hand, its title shimmering in gold: The Chronicles of Aetheria.

"Yes, we won't be in the field for today, and instead, we'll stay here in The Library itself," Thank stars, that was getting repetitive.

"Now let's begin where it all started," The Librarian said as he opened the hefty book, flipping through the pages with practiced precision. He stopped at an illustration that spanned two pages, depicting an ethereal and breathtakingly beautiful woman descending upon Aetheria. The woman was draped in flowing, radiant robes... Ah whatever! It's Sarandel, I mean, who else would it be? I swear, describing her is a nightmare. Ahem, anyway, it depicted Sarandel descending onto Aetheria. Around her, people of various races, both human and demi-human, looked up and reached out to her in awe and reverence.

"Ah, the first time Sarandel descended upon Aetheria, a world that was gifted to her by her sister, Gaia, who, to put it simply, was tired of dealing with the constant wars the Aetherians' were waging on top of her? Yeah that feels accurate." Yeah, and she decided to give them the one thing we all know really brings people together: Religion. (-_-) "Heh, that's about the response I expected from you, given your ideology," Yeah, but I guess this time it worked out better since there's pretty much just one religion.

"Something that is quite unique to Aetheria. Of course, there are smaller religions and sects—you've even seen one person promoting their own religion in the story—but barely anyone truly believes in the existence of other gods aside from Sarandel."

Anyway, what happened was that after Sarandel descended and helped the people resolve their endless wars, those who witnessed her began spreading her word. They wrote sacred texts, painted murals, sculpted statues—y'know, the usual. I mean, I guess she did bring peace for a while, but it didn't last forever. After uniting under one religion, people eventually went, 'Hey! We're not all the same race!' and immediately started fighting each other again.

"Such is life. Now, let's move on and take a look at what the people believe—what they think happens after death, how they worship Sarandel, and so on." The Librarian through the pages again, his movements deliberate, until he stopped at a particular section.

"Ah, here it is," Don't expect me to describe anything here—it's just text.

"That it is, now, Sarandelianism, which is the name of the religion, shares quite a lot in common with Christianity. Just switch out everything that says 'God' with 'Goddess,' and there you have it: Sarandelianism!"

There is more to it or else it would just be Christianity reskinned, "Of course, for one The Devil, there is no such concept in Sarandelianism," Yeah, so no rebellion of angels or anything like that. In Sarandelianism, Sarandel is a perfect little snowflake who has done no wrong, ugh, as if that couldn't be further from the truth. The sheer amount of times she's screwed herself over is insane, but she at least fights, unlike the god of poetry (-‸ლ) "Okay, we discussed this, off screen for the people wondering, he's the god of poetry. Stop expecting him to fight people," Yeah, but he's still a god; he should still be able to throw hands a little. "Ugh, we'll discuss this later, or maybe this could be another topic—the two of us arguing about something. If you want to see that, comment below. Now, getting back to topic,"

The afterlife! In Sarandelianism, there is a Heaven and Hell, but instead of you being bad and going to Hell or being good and going to Heaven, the people who practice Sarandelianism believe that instead, while you do go to each place depending on if you did good or bad, you go there to get punished or rewarded and then get reincarnated. "It's like a time out when you think about it. You did bad? Well, you're going to Hell to learn your lesson and then reincarnating, mister. Or you've been a good boy? Well, go to Heaven, relax, and come reincarnate when you feel like it."

Cool, I think that's about it, 'cause praying in Sarandelianism is pretty much the exact same as Christianity. "Well, if you hadn't derailed the conversation earlier" Hey! "I would have discussed how there are no concepts of a Jesus or Saints in Sarandelianism either, but whatever, I suppose," Okay, you sassy ass, are we done for the day or not? "We are, Mr. Narrator. Happy learning, everyone, and goodbye!"
