"Where's this shuttle of yours?" Myles questioned as he and Jon stealthily crept along the silent streets under the cover of the late hour.
"We need to get back to the trailer," Jon replied.
Myles muttered, "This should be interesting," as they continued their cautious advance.
They came up to an abandoned facility along the way back to the junkyard, their footsteps echoing in the silence. Suddenly, Myles felt a whoosh behind him. He swiftly turned around, alert to the source of the disturbance.
"Did you feel that?" Myles inquired, his eyes searching the darkness.
Jon whispered urgently, "Look over there!" He directed Myles' attention to a figure looming in the distance.
"What is that?" Myles wondered, his gaze fixated on the mysterious figure.
"We have to go, Myles, now!" Jon urged, a sense of urgency in his voice.
Just as Myles and Jon turned to resume their path, they found themselves face to face with a towering, seven-foot-tall creature. The monstrous being had partly scaly, brown skin, and a ridge of sharp spikes jutting from its muscular shoulders. Saliva dripped from its menacing jaws, filled with rows of razor-sharp teeth, while its angry eyes burned with fury. Its hands were equipped with deadly claws.
Myles and Jon stood still, plotting their way out, their minds racing as they contemplated the potential outcomes of this encounter. The creature emitted a low growl, patiently awaiting any movement from the duo.
In a split second, Jon sprang into action, charging at the creature with a powerful shoulder ram, aiming to incapacitate it. The creature lost its balance and toppled over, bringing Jon down with it.
Regaining its composure, the creature unleashed a ferocious attack, striking Jon hard and sending him sprawling, losing his grip on the suitcase he held, and crashing into the wall behind him.
Myles swiftly rushed forward, determined to defend Jon and engage the creature. Before he could take another step more, a second creature emerged from the shadows and blindsided him, sending him off course with a powerful blow.
The newly revealed creature matched its counterpart in size, boasting rough, spiky skin, as well as sharp teeth and claws.
As Jon slowly rose to his feet, his adrenaline surged, causing his pupils to glow a vibrant blue. Charging at the creature once more, he unleashed a mighty blow to its rib section, followed by an uppercut to its jaw, forcing it several feet backward, staggering.
Returning to its senses, the creature quickly came forward and retaliated, slamming Jon against the wall once again and throwing him forcefully, causing him to crash onto the concrete floor.
Undeterred, Jon stood up, his eyes focused on the approaching monster. He activated the nano-substance(Etherea-cells) on his skin, forming a set of blade-like weapons that protruded menacingly from his fists. With quick reflexes, he dodged the creature's impending attack and slashed its back with his blades. Engaging in a fierce battle, Jon strategically inflicted numerous lacerations on the creature's body, evading its retaliatory strikes.
Seemingly gaining the upper hand, Jon swiftly slashed the creature's calf, causing it to fall to one knee. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he stabbed the creature's side, driving the blade deep before detaching it from his hand. Drawing another set of blades, Jon attacked with both hands, driving them straight into the monster's chest. Green, gooey fluid oozed onto the floor as he withdrew his blades, and with a final roar of agony, the creature collapsed.
Meanwhile, the other creature, witnessing Jon's triumph, growled fiercely and charged towards him.
The creature leaped through the air, its sharp claws extended, aiming for Jon's chest. Reacting swiftly, Jon evaded the impending attack, narrowly escaping the creature's slashing claws. However, the creature managed to inflict a tear on Jon's shirt, shallowly scraping the surface of his chest as he dodged.
The impact of the near-miss caused Jon to lose his footing, and he tumbled to the ground. With a menacing snarl, the creature advanced, ready to deliver the final blow.
In that critical moment, Myles swooped in to rescue Jon. Launching himself upwards and landing on the creature's shoulder, Myles firmly grabbed hold of its head, struggling to maintain his grip. The creature staggered, disoriented by Myles' unexpected intervention. With a desperate effort, the creature managed to grab Myles' hand and forcefully slammed him against the ground, releasing a triumphant growl.
Without wasting a second, Myles sprang back to his feet and leaped upward into the air, executing a graceful flip onto the creature's shoulder once more. He tightened his grip around its head, preventing it from retaliating. However, before the creature could shake Myles off again, Jon recovered and rushed to his aid.
Summoning every ounce of strength, Jon took swift action. With a mighty swing, he severed the creature's left hand, causing it to screech in pain as it instinctively reached for Jon's head with it's other hand. Seizing the opportunity, Myles tightened his grip the more on the creature's head and pulled with all his might. With a display of incredible strength, Myles broke the skin at its neck, tearing the fibers of it's muscles and detaching its head from the body. Myles somersaulted away from the shoulder, dragging the severed head along with him, connected by its spine.
Covered partly in green, gooey blood from the creatures, Myles and Jon stood breathless, surveying the gruesome scene before them.
"What the hell are these things?" Myles questioned, his voice filled with both curiosity and dread as they stared in astonishment and disgust at the grotesque head in Myles' hands.
Jon shook his head, equally perplexed. "I have no idea."
Myles discarded the severed head, directing his attention to his AI assistant, Stiles. "Stiles, scan this and send samples back to HQ," he commanded, pointing towards the lifeless creature sprawled on the ground.
"On it," Stiles replied dutifully. A small, bug-like device emerged from Myles' suit's chest piece, hovering above the creature's remains and collecting samples for analysis.
"Analyzing the samples..." Stiles vocalized, processing the data.
"Come on, we have to get out of here," Jon urged, taking a few steps away from Myles, eager to put distance between them and the gruesome aftermath.
Myles nodded in agreement, their minds racing with the urgency to regroup with HQ and assess the situation. They turned their backs on the slain creatures, leaving them behind on the desolate road.
"We have no records on the blood samples from this lifeform," Stiles informed them.
"In that case, I better contact Nylar," Myles decided, realizing the need to seek further information and assistance.
On their way back, Myles tapped his braces, initiating contact with HQ. The familiar voice of Nylar greeted them, and Myles quickly updated him on their situation. "Nylar, we're on our way back. I've sent you a file containing samples of a lifeform. Please analyze it and provide feedback."
Returning to the junkyard, Jon and Myles boarded the trailer, their minds still reeling from the encounter and the impending danger they faced. Jon turned the ignition, and the trailer hummed to life.
"Don't tell me we'll be traveling across states in this trailer," Myles lamented, his voice tinged with skepticism.
Jon walked up to a wallboard fixed on the far end of the trailer and interacted with the screen. As a result, a secret hatch unlocked, revealing several buttons. Jon proceeding to pressing several of them.
In a mesmerizing display of technology, the trailer began transforming into a sleek and stylized flight craft. The furniture rearranged itself, seamlessly integrating into the structure of the craft. The front end expanded, forming a wide cockpit with comfortable chairs and a control panel.
"Not what you expected?" Jon asked, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he watched Myles' surprised expression.
Myles shook his head, a mixture of awe and excitement in his eyes. "I have to admit, Jon, you really know how to keep things interesting."
Jon chuckled and tossed a large towel to Myles. "Here, clean yourself up. We're about to take off."
Myles gratefully caught the towel, wiping away the remnants of the creature's blood from his face and hands.
In the front of the craft, Jon maneuvered the controls with precision, flipping switches and prepping the craft's main engine for ignition. "This baby runs on a V9 Decacore engine," Jon explained, a hint of pride in his voice. "We'll be there in no time."
The engines roared to life, emitting a soft glow from the thrusters. Myles and Jon strapped themselves into the seats, their bodies secured for the upcoming flight. Jon's grip tightened on the controls as he pressed a wide blue button on the dashboard.
With a tremendous burst of energy, the ship's thrusters propelled them steadily upward. They ascended through the atmosphere, cutting through the clouds as the city's skyline twinkled beneath them.
Jon's eyes sparkled with determination as he navigated the craft with finesse, skillfully manouvering and charting a course back to HQ. The wind rushed past them, and Myles felt a surge of exhilaration as they soared through the sky, leaving the dangers behind.
As they flew toward their destination, Myles couldn't help but ponder the mysteries that lay ahead. What were those creatures? Where did they come from? And what awaited them when they reached HQ?
As the flight craft continued its swift journey, they disappeared into the distance.
