Deici stared at his watch, patiently waiting for ten minutes to tick by. He wanted this game to be slightly fair after all. He knew that her first step would be to ditch the earrings, and he followed the signal laughing as she quickly approached the mall. "Run kitty, run!" Who would he kill first? Who would be the most fun to play with? Her ten minutes were up but he was uncharacteristically calm. He walked to the sofa and sat down; he smiled as he saw the tracker speeding towards the city.
Standing he switched to the other signal, it had finally stopped moving, and the location ensured that this was his first target. He started tapping his foot on the tiles, he was growing impatient but excited. He hated to wait but loved the game. He really was a walking contradiction. He picked up his personalized handgun, half of it completely black the other half white, with a silver serpent engraved into both sides, the jaws of the two serpents meeting at the muzzle, their bodies entwined over the trigger. He placed it in his black suit jacket and closed his eyes savoring the moment. A sinister smile tugged at his lips as thought about the carnage to come.
"Time to play, little kitten. Let's see how well you do." and with that the apartment was empty. Their final dance had begun.
....
Ayla felt a chill run down her spine, and she spun around, scanning the immediate area of the park, nothing. She had just arrived at the edge of the Valour Cabin property, Arcadia's family's timeshare. She had to meet up with Arcadia, then wait to meet the detective before getting the hell out of dodge. She knew for a fact that her 'free time' was up, and she was cutting this way too close, but she had no intention of figuring out if his threat of tracking her, even without the bug, was real. She broke into a sprint running towards the building that was their designated meeting location.
Ayla practically burst through the front door, closing it quickly behind her, hands still on the door, too stressed to question exactly why it was open and locked in the first place, Arcadia most likely saw her running up the driveway. She placed her hands on her knees panting as she tried to catch her breath, hearing someone shuffling behind her. "Ar*pant* Arcadia *pant* get the car started..." she slowly turned around, finally feeling like she could breathe "we should be getting the hell out of here in ten minutes, I'll explain everything on the way-"
"I don't think she will be able to do that," Ayla's blood turned cold, her breath catching in her throat as her eyes met silver one, instead of the hazel ones she expected. "Sorry to say but you took a little long and I got bored, had to keep myself entertained." The man stepped aside, showing Arcadia tied to chair, slumped forward, blood pooling into a puddle on the floor.
