The dorms for both boys and girls were situated at the corner of the university, opposite each other. As Rian moved, he could see the white building shining in the sunlight. The other students had already settled in, and because of some unexpected work, Rian was a week late. He could see the students sitting in groups, chatting, laughing, and enjoying their time already.
He received occasional stares, but he paid no attention and increased his pace while carrying his two pieces of luggage.
Melford University was the most prestigious university in the state. The 250-acre university with green grasslands, top-notch faculty and services, and the hardest scholarship test had opened its doors for everyone. Their aim was to provide high-quality education and publicity, as their campus was renovated. However, this move backfired, and the reputation took a big hit. To save their reputation, they established a student council that wasn't there before, and the rules became tighter, making it hard for everyone to have their own freedom. The dorms were made compulsory, and all social apps were blocked. They launched their own app for communication and important notices.
Rian reached the hostel building, the white color reflecting the sunlight, and the vast garden around it gave the view an exotic feeling. Rian was amazed at the sight and couldn't help but take a quick picture.
"Hahahahhaah! Look, another country bumpkin. It looks like this is the first time he's seeing a building with more than four floors."
Rian turned and saw a guy similar to his height and built laughing. There were three more students behind him with mocking smiles on their faces.
"Well, yeah, I'm sorry, but I am poor and from a village, as you can obviously see. I hope you can show me around and give me some pointers." Rian looked him in the eye and smiled politely. "I am Rian."
"Well, don't you worry, Rian. Since you're late, you missed the trials for rooms. But don't you worry, son, I am Dhairya. And I have your first task. Without completing it, you won't be given entry into this building." Dhairya slowly smiled and handed him a letter. "You will have to go to the girls' dorms through the common room and deliver this to the girl named Nysa."
"But won't I get into trouble?"
"You won't if you sneak through the common room."
"But I haven't had a chance to explore anything. Maybe give me a week to explore everything? Since you're the leader here, you will know in which room I am staying, anyways."
"Don't be a bootlicker, bitch." One of the guys standing behind Dhairya glared at him.
"Cool down, Saif. He is a good kid; he knows how to respect. You have three days, and if you don't give the letter to Nysa, then I will kick you out of here. And if you open it, then I will make your life hell."
"Alright. See you later, man." Rian turned and started walking towards the building.
