~Following Lauren~
Lauren's looking at herself in the wardrobe mirror, she's brushing stray strands of hair out of her face trying to get neet for the day when she hears a sharp knocking at her door. Lauren groans, hastily putting on her jumper and straightening her tie. She opens the door and tries not to flinch at the sight of the student leading witch and warlock standing outside of her room.
"Good you're ready, we need to go to the school gates to greet the new students'' The witch says, turning around and striding down the hallway, not giving Lauren or the warlock a chance to speak. The warlock just smiles and follows after his peer.
Lauren slips on her shoes and starts following after them, she struggles to match their pace so she starts lightly jogging. She catches up and the witch starts talking again "when we get there you will be with me and the Elemental student leader as our groups will be merging due to the small number of new Elemental students coming to the academy." Lauren nods in understanding.
They speed through the halls and they pass a certain dark haired witch. "Oh Is Lauren in trouble again, makes sense considering she's a pathetic excuse for a witch" The haughty voice exclaims. The senior warlock scoffs but before he could say anything Lauren speaks first "Despite how much I love entertaining you, I'm afraid that I'm a little busy at the moment so will you please shut up Alexandria" her voice is practically dripping with sarcasm.
"Enough talking we need to go" The witch says in frustration. She grabs Lauren and is practically dragging her through the exit and to the front gates to the already waiting bus sitting along the grassy road way.
They all stop and stand beside the other two student leaders already waiting next to principal Klotsia. "It's about time you got here, You're lucky that there were more than a few rowdy kids on that bus otherwise you would've missed the first half of the introduction" The older woman lectures with a scolding tone. A large group of kids come pouring out of the bus, they all have excitable looks on their faces.
After a few minutes of herding, the staff manage to get the excitable teens calmed down and settled in front of them. The principal takes a step forward and says "Welcome to my academy. You will be spending the next six years developing and honing your magical abilities, as well as finding a career path to follow into adulthood."
She extends an arm to the six students standing behind her, "These are your seniors. They will be giving you a tour of the school. You will be split up into groups based on what class you fall under. For example, those of you with a weaker magical awareness will go with Jule. They are a sorcerer who has been elected to help show you around." She then nods at Jule as a go ahead, they then start collecting a considerably large group of kids before starting off in the direction of sorcerer's campus.
"Next, Jordan will be taking those of you who already have a strong magical awareness, but remember just because you are more adaptable to magic doesn't mean that you are better than those weaker than you. Sorcerers have accomplished great things." Jordan steps away from Lauren and towards the group of kids. He starts heading off towards the warlocks campus.
"Now for the Druids, those of you who have developed an incredible understanding of nature and all its uses will go with Melissa," Melissa then does as her fellow seniors have done and heads to the Druids campus.
"And finally the Witches and Elementals who're born with inherent magical ability. Because of how few of you there are this year, two groups will be temporarily merged for this tour, you will have the privilege of exploring both campuses together. Follow Gwen an Elemental and Susan a Witch. Also this young lady here is scouting for a student to mentor and tutor through their time at this school, her name is Lauren, please show her respect" At this the principal is done introducing them and the three older students Start leading the group of young teens to one of the campuses.
They all walk over the smooth concrete path, they pass under the five archways that symbolise each magic user. They first head over to the Elemental campus, It's surrounded by warm colours and an even warmer atmosphere. Symbols are winding up and down the mansion's walls, each of them slowly moving and slithering in place.
The student's eyes widen in awe of the campus, never having seen such an intricate building in person before. Lauren snorts to herself, 'if only they knew that it's all for show, every school has these protections this school is just too vain to let any other outshine them.'
~
The group enters through the large front doors the first thing Elora notices is the large gold inscriptions along the walls. The familiarity of the symbols drives her curiosity into overdrive, She lightly pushes her way through to the front of the group. "Excuse me, but do you know what those symbols mean?" Elora asks her two seniors. Susan is the one to respond "I know it may seem interesting but just wait until you're actually in class to ask the boring questions. Just pay attention so you don't get lost" She says, a little harshly.
As Elora starts to back up into the crowd, feeling moody after her efforts were rejected, Lauren grabs her arm and pulls her beside herself. "Hi, I'm Lauren. Now that that's out the way, listen to me. Most of our student leaders are unreliable goody two shoes who don't tell us anything, especially this bunch. Here's some advice: make nice with the teachers and be friendly to your peers. It can grant you some advantages. In the last year I've been given access to some restricted history books, and they've given me some interesting knowledge on a particular subject."
Elora is too stunned to say anything for a moment but she quickly shakes herself back to reality before responding."Um hi, that's interesting but what does that have to do with what I asked?" Elora raises an eyebrow clearly not seeing the relevance in what Lauren's saying.
Lauren scoffs at the sass shown to her "Well you asked about the gold carvings in the walls and what they mean, Iknow because of the books. Make sense now?" Elora nods, not wanting to incite the wrath of the older girl.
"Those carvings are about the history of spirits and their connection to Elementals," Elora tenses up at this, she starts to worry that Lauren is secretly some extra supernatural creature who figured out her secret. "Now you're probably wondering why I'm telling you this. Well, It's because you were the only one to notice and even point out the carvings everyone else is just ogling the pretty lights. Sorry if that was a bit weird, I'm not usually so intrusive. Anyway my point is you interest me and seem very perceptive so I was wondering if you would like for me to mentor you till I graduate or till you get bored of it." Lauren takes a moment to take a breath before looking at Elora expectantly.
As Elora is about to answer, their group stops at a shimmering staircase. The seniors turn towards the group and wait for them to settle down.
"Up these stairs is where the living areas are located. Some of you have come from the other side of the country, and some the other side of the world. Each of you who have done this is assigned a room that will be keyed to your magical energy, allowing only you and in case of emergency a teacher to enter your living space. Those of you who will be coming to thai school as normal will be keyed into a locker. Now I will give you a piece of paper with your room number or locker number, your stuff has already been placed in the room or locker. When you're done, return down here and We'll head to the Witches campus." After Gwen finishes talking Susan summons a pile of paper to her hand before passing it to Gwen. One by one all the Elemental students head up to the rooms after collecting a piece of paper from Gwen.
Lauren watches Elora as she climbs the steps, she thinks she's just found her protege.
