Chapter 90 - Sightings of Adventures

The sound of crystalline structure fracturing followed by the sight of silver glitter falling like snow.

As I stepped forward, torches started to light up the dark chambers. There was this illumination beneath my feet as I stepped forward that followed me.

Did Devina really summon me into a dungeon? But there were no monsters here, continuing to look around, I found nothing but a staircase that went deeper.

I started to feel frustrated, I felt trapped, it was as if someone had entombed me. My body started to heat up as I started to the effects of limiting my freedom. The mark of Freedom emerged on my cheek and spread down my cheek. My body jumped as I felt a wave of power surge through my spine. My brain was undergoing a surreal moment, and was completely stunned for a brief moment. I felt as my body grew warmer but suddenly this cold breeze covered me.

My eyes widened as I felt my heart skipping a beat. There was this power surging through my body. Slowly turning my side to side looking at my hands, I saw a silver glint.

The entirety of my body had been coated in silver, the silverine aura I had while fighting Fear had reappeared.

But the silverine aura wasn't on my mind, I just wanted to escape, I didn't want to be in such a place all alone. But deep down inside, I was happy, knowing that I had learnt yet a new skill.

With one swift motion, I thrust my arm up towards the ceiling, sending silver crashing at the rocks above me.

"Shatter."

I looked up to see that there was yet another floor, leaping up towards the new floor, I continued freezing and shattering, moving upwards.

How long is this gonna take? As I pondered about how many floors this dungeon had, I heard a noise above me. It sounded as if something was crashing against the floor. Small pebbles fell from above as vibration from above spread downwards.

"Freeze."

"Shatter."

I leapt up towards the hole I made and as I peeked my head through it, I saw a horde of skeletons rushing at a few people.

On closer inspection, I realized it was the group of adventurers that I had met in the desert. It was Steve, Alicia, Roxy and two of the kiddo warriors.

They were in position, Steve in the front, Roxy in the back with Alicia and the kids beside Steve, but a little behind him.

"Alright I will charge up my spell, please hold them off…"

As soon as Steve heard that sentence from Roxy he charged right into the horde of skeletons that had armor and swords.

As he swung around with his hammer and crushed them the rest of the group watched with disproval as he had just charged in without thinking.

He gave them a thumbs-up as he smooshed the last skeleton.

"You aren't supposed to go off on your own like that… Dad."

Alicia slowly lowered her staff as she walked towards Steve.

"You are so stupid, you do know that right?"

He smiled at his daughter as she kept nagging at him. It was as if he wasn't listening to anything she said at all.

As Alicia pointed her index finger towards her Dad, scolding him, Roxy yelled out at her to dodge.

Alicia just hearing those words escape Roxy's mouth, froze. As a beam of light shot through the room, Steve pushed his daughter out of the way before it hit her.

Sitting on the ground, Alicia looked up at her dad, who stood in front of her with his shield raised.

He scanned the room, for any threats. As he raised his eyes towards the podium in front of him. There was a red throne decorated with gold. On the throne sat a skeleton with a crown engraved with jewels. It wore a red and white royal coat.

"Is that the boss of the floor?" Alicia asked her dad.

"I think so."

As I was still hanging there at the hole, I was wondering if I should go and greet them, or help them, but the only thing on my mind was escaping.

Alicia got back onto her feet and got herself back into position. The royal skeleton stood up and stretched out his arm as if ordering out an army. From the soil, the hands of the dead started to emerge. They dug themselves out, dragging themselves up through the dirt. With one more swift motion with his arm, the skeletons started moving towards them.

Roxy who had been charging up her spell this entire time, aimed towards the skeletons with her staff. Fire started to conjure at the tip of her staff, and a few seconds later, it blasted toward the skeletons that got reduced to ashes.

"Nice job!" Said one of the warriors.

Roxy sighed and told them to just do their job and finish off the boss.

"Roger that ma'am!"

The frontlines of their group charged towards the skeleton king. But as they neared him, Roxy called out.

"STOP IDIOTS!"

But before they could get closer to him, arms from below, grabbed their legs. It wasn't able to hinder Steve who continued rushing towards the king. But for the warriors that couldn't escape their grasp, the king aimed his finger at one of them and shot a beam of light right through their chest.

Sett screeched in pain, grasping his chest. With a concentrated look, Roxy aimed her staff towards the ground and ice covered the floor, freezing all the Skeletons that were gonna emerge. Alicia rushed up towards the injured warrior after Roxy made it safe, she chanted some unknown language. The wound in his chest started to heal and he moaned out in pain as the wound closed.

But as for the Skeleton King, Steve had completely crushed his bones into dust with his hammer. They decided to set up base on this floor before moving towards the next one. I emerged from the hole and looked up at the ceiling, before looking at them.

Wouldn't it be easier if I just asked them how to get out? If they got in somehow, then it would mean that they know how to get out right? I decided the fastest way to get out of this place was to ask them for the way out. I calmed myself and took a deep breath. I decided that I would just break out of there, it should be the quickest way right?

Continuing to smash through the rocks above me I traveled through tens of rooms before coming to another big wooden door.

"Shatter."

The air enveloped me, but it wasn't the fresh blissful air you found in nature, but a tainted rotten smell.

Something bad was lurking in the darkness, and as I scrutinized the room, I heard the sound of flesh ripping apart. It was as if there was something eating meat in the shadows. The light from the previous room shined in and what I saw in front of me was a man-eating monster.

It had two long horns and its skin was pale. The sharp nails it used ripped the flesh of an adventurer who was unlucky enough to stumble upon this thing.

It was humanoid, but it was freakishly long and skinny, the mouth on that thing was enormous, with its head was completely hairless.

As I stood there, trying to absorb what was happening in front of me, the monster started to cry and weep. It stopped consuming the human and started to cover its face and sit in a corner with its back towards me.

What is that thing? It was eating the corpse but noticed my presence and started crying. Why isn't it attacking me? Nevertheless, it took the freedom of another living being, I need to release it as well.

As I stepped closer, with my hand aimed at it.

It turned its face towards me and when I saw the eyes, the expression on it turned from grief and guilt to anger and belligerence. The mouth opened wide with its jaw opening far beyond human capabilities. It rushed towards me at terrifying speeds, but before it reached my arm.

"Freeze."

The whole monster got turned into silver, glistening in the dark.

"Shatter."

Its frozen body exploded into millions of pieces of dust and scattered across the floor. I looked over towards the corpse, might as well give them a proper burial.

"Freeze."
