Chapter 21 - Lame decision

Marlowlia glanced over with an empathetic look towards Emovi, who was laying there with a 40-degree Celsius fever. After all of us heard the bad news, we all thought the same thing, "what can we do to relieve Emovi's pain?" And "Is the only solution death?"

Sitting down next to Emovi, I start patting her head. Her head was warm like an oven. Her forehead is sweaty and contorted with anguish. Eyes tightly shut.

In retrospect, the main reason why I'm here was Emovi. I was finding food back then and went into some random noble's house which turned out to house Viego. We fought and I brought Emovi with me. Then we found Marlowlia. We were on our way to her place to assist her sister. Suddenly I ran into the aeon of fear and desire.

So after that incident, Aylin is now with us. She wanted someone to liberate her and due to that we went to the mountains of Serenity. Where we all undergo a life-changing trial.

After completing the trial we got ambushed by the Aeon of breakage that put a cursed fragment into Emovi's body.

I couldn't let her die so young. To have her freedom taken from her at her age would be devastating.

I stop patting her warm head.

Aylin sits down beside me. She wraps her arms around my shoulders and attempts to comfort me.

I sit there, momentarily stunned. I'm trying to process everything. But the main thing was, Emovi is going to die. That thought circulated throughout my mind over and over. Seeing her dead body, empty of freedom. The little candle extinguished.

If I just had more candle wax. If I had the power to save her.

Aylin gently touched Emovi's body. She took back her hand after realizing how hot Emovi's body was.

"Marlowlia, I think we need to change her clothes, we need some wet towels too! We need to cool down her body." Aylin said.

Marlowlia stood up and walked out the door to ask Devina for towels.

Aylin using this opportunity ask me, how I feel at the current moment.

I didn't know how to feel. But that feeling is similar to when I lost my two brothers. Something deep within me is telling me that Emovi is an important person to me. She is somehow connected to me, deeper. I told this to her.

Marlowlia walked casually into the room and placed a bucket of cold water with towels hanging on the edge. She then sat back down where she sat earlier.

I didn't want to see Emovi die. Lost in thought about it. I asked why the fragment went into her and how it went inside her. How was that possible, she was the closest in proximity to him, yes. But why her?

I shook my head. Looking around the room Devina brought us in. Her room is plain. Bed, carpet,

And a desk. The only that stood out and was at least taken care of is her bookshelf. Investigating her shelf, I realized she liked reading romance novels. The shelf is colorfully covered in light novels and manga. Green, pink, red, blue, something beige caught my eye. I pulled out the book. After looking at it, I opened the book, closed it, and sat back down.

I don't think I want to ever look at that shelf again.

"Vivshi! Vivshi!"

Aylin is calling me out.

"Would you mind leaving the room? I'm gonna change Emovi's clothes."

I stepped out of the room. Devina had a bunch of clothes hanging in the hallway. Looking at them, I then saw black lingerie hanging on the drying rack. That then reminded me of what I saw in that book earlier. Blushing, I slowly walk down the stairs with my hand on the railing.

Devina's house is pretty big still. Her room is ginormous and the insides of her house are seriously polished. The kitchen is gorgeous and alluring, imagine all the food that could be cooked here. Noticing the door leading outside. It seemed to be like a conservatory. There is this long plant that grew from the hanging pot. Red pickle fruits grew from the stem of the fruit. Some flowers had not yet matured and when I smelled them, they exploded. The smell is like shampoo on serenity mountain. Aaaa… it felt so good… I forgot everything about Emovi and my journey. It smells sooo good… before I became more delirious I punched myself in the face to correct my thoughts. Wake up and focus. But… it wouldn't hurt if I just take some flowers, wouldn't it? I sneaked some of the immature flowers into my pocket. Hehe… Devina wouldn't notice if I just take one or two right? Just for later ~

I explored the complex, and Devina seemed to love fish. Because there is a huge aquarium in her house. The water is crystal clear and enchanting, isn't that water from the mountains of Serenity?

Teeming with a kaleidoscope of vibrant fish and an abundance of lush. Swaying aquatic plants. Schools of graceful, iridescent fish darted through the crystal clear waters. Exotic species glided through the water, with their giant fins waving in the reservoir. Their dazzling patterns charmed my eyes.

"Don't tell me you got a fetish for fish."

Turning around, Sekito came into the room and opened the fridge. Taking out some alcohol. The room is filled with the smell of champagne.

"That's some strong stuff."

Giggling for a bit before sipping from her bottle. She started to hiccup. Seeing Sekito, I was reminded of what she said. All lives aren't equal. But for me. It is different. With serious steps, I marched towards Sekito. I got onto my knees and bowed my head.

"Please, can you save Emovi."
