Chapter 63 - Creation of Braavos

During the Dark reign of Valyria, where Lord of Lights priests, a large group of slaves hatched a daring plan to break free from their captors. Rising as one, they overpowered their Valyrian oppressors and commandeered the ships that were meant to transport them to an uncertain fate. Knowing the harsh consequences they would face for such a rebellion, the former slaves sought refuge as far away from the Valyrian Freehold as possible.

The slaves are huddled together on the ships, planning were to escape too.All of them were afraid of the being once again captured of Valyrians.Among the slaves were Priestess of Eru, who were imprisoned for speaking against such practices, they could tell R'hllors influence was gathering in Valyria. These Priestess were chosen by Eru, so they had very big influence and Valyrian's did not dare harm them fearing Eru's wrath. Also these Priestesses can live for 300 years or more and they have direct visions from Eru front time to time.So Valyrian's imprisoned them. Now they were free.

The Wise Women-Priestesses approach, their faces serene yet determined.

The oldest was Priestess Aria placing a gentle hand on a slave's shoulder said"My dear children, fear not. Eru's guidance has led us to this sacred place. Here, amidst the fog and the pine-clad slopes, we shall find sanctuary."

Slave 1 was worried and questioned"But Priestess Aria, we know not what awaits us beyond these waters. Our captors will be relentless in their pursuit."

Priestess Lysa smiling reassuringly and answered"Have faith, Lord Eru has foreseen our destiny, and the mists will shield us from those who seek to harm us."

Slave 2 nervously asked"But what if the world beyond these shores rejects us?"

Priestess Alia placing a hand on the slave's heart

and said"Trust us, Lord Eru has given us visions for brighter future.Keep your spirit strong, embrace your worth, for Eru has chosen you to shape a new destiny."

Slave 3 was now hopeful and asked"What will become of us once we arrive at this distant lagoon?"

Priestess Aria smiled and replied"Lord Eru has already made sure the Land provides all our needs."

This calmed down the slaves, while Sister Lysan her voice filled with conviction added" We shall create a city, a place of unity and strength, where all who seek solace and prosperity will find a home."

The slaves look at each other, their determination growing.Slave 4 with a resolute voice spoke up" Then let us set sail! We shall face whatever comes our way with Eru's guidance."

Slave 1 firmly nodded and added" We are no longer slaves; we are the architects of our own fate!"

As the slaves prepare to sail into the unknown, the Wise Women-Priestesses stand with them, their hands raised in a silent blessing.

Guided by a group of wise women-priestesses who followed prophecies from the enigmatic deity Eru, they sailed across treacherous waters to reach a distant lagoon, shrouded in a perpetual thick fog that concealed them from passing dragonriders. It was here, amidst pine-clad slopes and scattered islands, that they finally found sanctuary.

Their newfound home became known as Braavos, a city that expanded across the lagoon, thriving as a haven for those seeking freedom and prosperity.

To safeguard their freedom, the refugees devised ingenious ways to protect their identity and their stolen Valyrian ships. They used a dye derived from local snails to stain their ship's hulls and sails a deep purple, an ancient tradition that the Braavosi still uphold to this day.

As generations passed, Braavos remained hidden from the world, its existence a well-kept secret. The city's elected leader, the Sealord who is the leader of Braavos.

The city thrived during that time Among Braavos' landmarks stood the Statue of Eru, a colossal fortress guarding the harbor entrance, towering nearly 400 feet tall. This imposing structure served not only as protection but also as a symbol of the city, with Eru's image adorning the Braavosi coinage.

Deep within the city, concealed on a small island in the lagoon, lay the House of White and Black. This enigmatic temple served as the headquarters of the Faceless Men, a guild of religious assassins devoted to the Many-Faced God. The temple's single entrance was a remarkable ebony and pale weirwood door, reflecting the duality of life and death, a theme that resonated throughout Braavos.

Within the House, the central sanctuary housed a pool filled with poisoned water, offering those who sought release from their suffering the embrace of death. The Hall of Faces, hidden deep below, held the faces of those who had drunk from the poisoned pool, allowing the Faceless Men to change their appearance at will.

Braavos' spiritual diversity was evident in the House's atrium, where statues of various gods from both Essos and Westeros stood side by side. The Faceless Men believed that these death gods were facets of Eru, the mysterious deity revered throughout the city.

The grandest temple in Braavos was the Temple of Eru, an awe-inspiring structure of snow-white marble crowned by a massive silvered dome. The temple's windows depicted three interlocking triangles symbolizing Eru's dominion over life, death, and creation. Another symbol, the World Tree Yggdrasil, highlighted Eru's role as the guardian and nurturer of the realm, ensuring stability and continuity.

Eventually, the Sealord of Braavos, Uthero Zalyne, decided that enough time had passed for Braavos to reveal itself to the world. The Iron Bank of Braavos paid the dragonlords for the stolen ships, but refused to pay for the value of the slaves themselves.

Ships were then sent forth throughout the world announcing the existence and location of Braavos and inviting men of all nations to the city to celebrate its 111th anniversary. The Valyrians accepted the money, but ultimately were more consumed with their own internal feuds and weren't really interested in the descendants of long-dead slaves living in an isolated city-state on the far borders of their territories, so they simply ignored Braavos and left it alone.

The city of Braavos has grown and prospered over the years. The Unmasking celebration is in full swing, with vibrant colors and joyous festivities.

Sealord Uthero raising his voice said"Citizens of Braavos, today we honor our history and our triumph over adversity! It was long ago that a group of brave souls, once slaves, arrived at this lagoon, guided by the prophecies of Eru!"

The crowd cheers as the Sealord continues with pride"We have thrived in secrecy, but now, we stand unmasked before the world! Braavos, the city of freedom and courage, shall no longer hide its light!"

The people celebrate, and the Wise Women-Priestesses join in the jubilation, who are now very old and wrinkled women they are now being pushed in wheel chair like contraption.

Priestess Lysa spoke to the crowd"Rejoice, for today, we reveal our strength to the world! Under Eru's watchful eye, we have prospered and flourished!"

The crowd cheers louder, and the Wise Women-Priestesses share knowing glances.

Priestess Aria whispers to Priestess Lysa"Our people have come so far, guided by the benevolence of Eru. May our city continue to prosper under the light of His wisdom."

Priestess Lysa nods and replied"Indeed, dear sister. Our work has only just begun, and with Eru's guidance, we have to now choose out successor. Our lives are coming to a close."

Both priestesses nodded, they were already training suitable priestesses for the role. But for now together, the Wise Women-Priestesses watch the joyous celebration unfold, knowing that the legacy of Eru and the bravery of the slaves live on in the heart of Braavos.

To this day, the anniversary of the Unmasking is celebrated in Braavos with a ten-day festival of feasting and masked revelry. It culminates on the midnight of the tenth day when the Eru roars and tens of thousands of celebrants remove their masks as one.

[A/N:There are plans to either create a pairing of Hathor with a banished Lannister and have a demigod Anduin Wrynn. Also another is Yavanna falling in love with Gyles Gardner of Reach and having Achilles. So there is only Mandos, Horus and Anubis that is left.I want either Anubis or Mandos to marry a Stark.]
