Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Awakening

 *cough* *cough* *cough*

Raven awoke as he there up a mouthful of dirty water, the sky had darkened, he turned to his back and just laid there with thoughts in his mind.

"It would have been so much easier if I had just drowned" Raven struggled to get up when he noticed a black cube on the ground where he was lying, picking it up confused as to what the cube was.

'what the hell is this, it is covered with mud but shines underneath all this dirt' The cube was small and fit in his palm. he rinsed the cube in the water and got all the mud out. ' I have no clue what it is but maybe it is a rare mineral I can sell for some coins.

Looking around the dark forest he could hear that the forest was teeming with activity, ' hell no I am not going to make it to town ill probably become dinner for a monster before I make it halfway, guess we sleeping in the forest tonight.'

Raven made his way up a tree near the pond. and sat on a thick branch, with his back against the trunk. feeling his stomach rumbling but scared to go down he just chose to hug his leg and scrunched. ' I'm cold wet and starving, Perfect! what else could go wrong, maybe the cut will get an infection, and I'll just die in my sleep' he touched he's neck where the spear had grazed him looking at he's hands to see that it was still slowly bleeding. 'Ha! perfect" he joked

Unable to fall asleep he played with the little cube in his hands, curious as to what it was. when the blood on his fingers had hand touched all sides of the cube a bright light flashed and his entire body went limp before he could even react.

' What now!?'

' Really after the day I had can God not give me a break' Raven complained as he was tired and frustrated, as since he had woken up with no memories things have just been going wrong for him. 'Am I dead now? if so thank the heavens 'cause I have had enough'.

after a few minutes of complaints and insistent swearing, he calmed down and looked around the space, he saw that it was a large white room filled with a library of books. ' what's this?' Raven curious about what he was experiencing walked forward toward the first shelf.

' A library? I hope there are some books I can sell for some coins, or maybe use the pages for a fire, but how would I get back first of all.'

Raven reached the first book on the shelf and it was titled 'basics of potioneering', this title shocked him to the core, excitement, and trepidation could be seen in his eyes, 'hahaha after all my suffering has God blessed me with a library of my profession.

he skimped through several books and his excitement grew with each book he looked through. 'The books are on several topics from potions to recipes, artifact creation, herb identification and all sorted of topics that any alchemist would die for. when looked around a bit more he saw a desk in between two sets of shelves, he walked up to the desk and saw a single parchment of paper.

Reading the parchments he saw a message ' If you reading this it means you were able to enter my codex, it also means you are an alchemist as only the blood of an alchemist could unlock my seal. Within this space, there is an accumulation of knowledge on the path of alchemy. We, alchemist, are a respected profession and powerful as we can create anything from our wildest imagination but several years ago we were prosecuted cause we refused to serve a tyrant. A king who would have every alchemist serve only him, but how could we at the time, we were prideful and arrogant and refused to serve anyone who wasn't an even better alchemist than ourselves. infuriated we were hunted by an empire how could we who were selfish and scattered fend off a united empire, all our knowledge and traces have been lost to the ashes of war, the codex was created to preserve our last heritage in the hopes of a comeback but anyone born with the alchemist profession was killed when discovered at the time. As a fellow alchemist we do not ask you to get revenge but simply not to let our heritage die out completely.

'I never knew there was such deep history for my profession'

'hehehe but if this is truly a space full of the heritage of alchemy then maybe there's hope for me. Soaring to the sky in one leap hehehe I can't wait to make it to the top I'll show everyone who looked down on my profession what the best profession truly is.

Raven got lost skimping through books in the library by the time he got tired and relaxed he's mind he got kicked out of the white space.' huh it's morning' By the time he had woken up the sun was already high up in the sky and he's clothes were dry, he was still freezing and starving and could feel the wound on his neck stinging.

'argh it really might be infected after all' he groaned as he made his way down the tree.

'First things first I have to resolve my injury or I could die before I get to enjoy any of the benefits' Raven had learned that he did not have to enter the space he could just project his mind and pull out the book he wanted

He remembered a book he read detailing how to create a healing potion. ' I'm going to need the following herbs, luckily the book also details the herbs and appearances and I remember seeing them all on the way they were quite common I even gathered some previously, the herbs consisted of

Velvetshade Berries: Their calming properties aid in soothing pain and reducing inflammation.

Glimmerroot: Its luminescent core promotes the healing of internal injuries and fortifies the body's natural healing processes.

Ironbark Moss: Known for its resilience, this moss helps to strengthen the body and accelerate recovery from physical wounds.

Sunfire Thistle: The warmth emitted by the petals aids in increasing circulation and boosting the body's natural healing response.
