We all bunch up close as Kya opens the giant Novel filled with information with pictures of different stances and names filled the book of famous fighters from hundreds of years ago that honed all the fighting types found inside.
After about ten minutes of glossing over the book, I noticed that most of these fighting styles look similar to Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and even a whole section regarding ground wrestling which almost sounds pointless in a world of magic, but I will count anything out yet.
It's safe to say everything that I learned in my previous life, where we were trained in ground combat along with primary forms of Jiu Jitsu, won't help much here, however.
Most of the styles in the book are modified because of the magic they use, and in turn, is almost like relearning everything else, and I should treat it as such.
Just like when you are learning to fire a gun, you need to unlearn all the bad habits you have.
It's important to focus on the right fighting style. I will take more time reviewing and learning these methods and find what suits earth magic the best.
As we flip further, we find an entire section dedicated to "Sword Styles" This is something unique I haven't seen before.
Kya's eyes brighten up fiercely with excitement, and she yells out, "I will be the strongest sword user around, and my flames will crush anyone who opposes me!
Okay, but why are you screaming in our ears Arlo responds.
The louder you speak, the easier it is to believe in yourself; this way, I never forget my goals. Sorry if I annoyed you.
It's okay, just not directly in my ear. I like to hear things, you know Arlo responds firmly.
We all focus back on the book and what the title states.

"Follow up with the kingdom's Armory / Training area for more in-depth training."
More pictures followed for each sword style.
Toki speaks out and bluntly says. I'm a bit disappointed with this. While it is nice to learn about the different styles that exist, it didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked.
Kya responds with, "Well, maybe it's just too much information to fit into one book. It does tell us where to get more direct training, however. We could venture to the capital one day; from the talking the clerics do, I overhear them talk about how big the kingdom's capital is.
That's a good point, Kya," Toki responds. Now that you mention it. I have not thoroughly studied the hierarchy system. I believe it's a 5 Lord system with a king ruling over them. However, I'm not sure who the lords are yet, but with some more research, I will have a good idea of who and what they do.
But for today, I think it's time we head back. How long will you be staying in the village Kya?
She responds, "It varies and depends on how long the clerics take to complete their jobs here. The bigger the town/village, the longer it takes to vet everyone.
Toki: What do you mean, vet, and what exactly are they doing?
Kya: They do some type of purity scan over every new citizen, and sometimes they do it a second time. They do this to record a person's soul and establish them within the soul bank. Some fancy stuff happens, and you are later issued a soul wallet for finances though I haven't gotten one yet. They only give them out after you turn (13) I believe.
Toki: I see, I guess that makes sense; "thinking to myself, I wonder if they will be able to see my soul is older than my body shows or if they can tell it's not a new one." Thank you, Kya, for that explanation. I assume me and Arlo can expect a visit from you soon then.
Kya: laughing, she responds I guess so; being my followers, I expect nothing except high excellence. I will see you all when I can.
She darts off as if forgetting something important, and before Arlo or I can say anything, she is gone.
Well, I guess that's that, huh, Arlo?
He gives a slight nod, and we begin to head back to our house, where we find a large sack of stuff sitting outside my door.
I'm gonna see what this is about. I will see you tomorrow, Arlo!
He waves me off and runs toward his house, using gusts of wind to throw up leaves on his way in before slamming the door.
I ran up to the door where a large duffle bag brown in design was sitting outside the door with food, water, Father's sword, and just general items. I think to myself this must be about the letter a couple of months ago about going to visit his friend. I guess he is going to end up going.
From the information I have seen from the world books and the overlay maps, Father will be traveling around 80-100 miles to the 3rd Lord's territory on the waterfront villages. While this is a medieval world, they have built massive sized boats that can compare to the sizes of the Titanic in our world.
I still have more research to complete; however, it's clear that the people here aren't barbaric; they just rely heavily on the magic of the land to substitute for the lack of technology.
I will have to try and build some technology during my lifetime, however. More than anything, I just want a Fridge to keep food cold. Nothing is worse than seeing Mother put the steak in some bag for fermentation or just covering the meat in heavy salt.
