Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

Actaeon Lucas,

When he woke up, it was 10.30.

"Oh! I slept a long time."

He looked around the wooden dormitory, where everything is made out of wood. If his knowledge is right, the whole dormitory will be chased into existence within an hour.

Lucas pulled his sleeve on his right hand, and a red tattoo with a faint glow was on top of his hand. Soon the tattoo disappeared, and a crimson book appeared on his palm .

The Grimoire of the Blood Monarch

The book automatically opened and displayed words that were only understandable to Lucas. In summary, it was explaining the current status of Lucas.

------------------------------

Race: Ex-Human (Vampire)

Rank: Bloodsucker

-a failed vampire creature who is neither accepted as a human nor as a vampire.

Bloodline: Northern Secondborn.

Bloodline ability:

-None.

Racial ability:

-Blood Consumption (Rank: F)

Initiate ability:

-Blood Suppression (Rank: E-)

Spell :

-Blood Detection (1st circle spell)

-Crimson Spear (1st circle spell)

Current Status:

-Terminally ill (Remaining life time: 36 days, 17 hours.)

Blood Essence: 2

------------------------------------

As an ex-human who can't have a status window like a regular human, this function was really helpful for Lucas.

But the main ability of the Grimoire is to collect blood essence. The more blood essence he collects, the more spells he can learn. Different types of blood essence gives him different types of spells.

He got the blood detection spell from the blood essence of a F-rank wolf, which had a detection ability using the sense of smell. After getting it's blood essence, the Grimoire gave him the spell to sense blood using smells.

Similarly, he got the Crimson Spear spell after absorbing the blood essence from a Kobold mage who uses an ice spear. He can temporarily create a spear made of his own blood using this spell.

It normally takes about a month for a normal mage to master a new spell. But Lucas could do it right away as soon as he gets the blood essence. He can also use the blood essence to upgrade his spells.

The only downside is that he can only use spells that consume blood instead of mana. And he can't decide which spell he is going to learn.

Bloodline: Northern Secondborn.

Vampires have different types of bloodlines. Different bloodlines have different abilities. The Northern Secondborn bloodline is the bloodline of the count who turned Lucas. But as a failed ex-human, Lucas doesn't have any bloodline benefits. Or because he didn't receive the bloodline benefit is why is called "failed".

Blood Consumption (Rank: F)

Blood consumption is a racial ability. A racial ability is something Lucas got as soon as he became a vampire.

But this ability is very weak. If he consumes blood, he can restore a little bit of his stamina. Thanks to this, he doesn't have much need to consume food. But it doesn't permanently make him stronger like it does for a regular vampire. The biggest disadvantage is that the more blood he drinks, the higher the addiction becomes.

Blood Suppression (Rank: E-)

This is an ability that Lucas originally had, even before he became a vampire. And this is the ability for which he got killed by a villain. The original rank of this ability is S rank. It can easily subdue an opponent of weaker rank. And it can cast a huge debuff effect on opponents of higher rank. This was one of the strongest supporting abilities in the novel.

-Terminally ill (Remaining life time: 36 days, 17 hours.)

The last one is terminally ill. A vampire transformation ritual cannot be possible unless both sides do it willingly. And this is the original reason why Lucas agreed to become a vampire.

Lucas was originally dying. The only way for him to survive was to drink blood to increase his lifespan by becoming a vampire . Inside the academy, it was very tough for him to get blood. He rarely managed to get any blood to keep him barely alive. That's why the original Lucas was the weakest in the academy.

'I should collect as much as blood possible in the test.'

Thinking about all this, Lucas got up from his bed. He packed his bag with clothes, brought some packed foods, grabbed his wand, and looked at his watch.

"It's almost time."

In the bustling cafeteria, Kardama patiently waited in the winding queue, his anticipation mounting as he approached the front.

With each passing minute, anticipation grew, fueling his eagerness to sate his hunger. Kardama couldn't help but notice the curious glances directed his way. It dawned on him that his recent fighting video, uploaded to the academy's website, had garnered more attention than he had anticipated.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Kardama reached the front of the line, his stomach grumbling in anticipation.

After savoring his meal, Kardama began his walk back to the dormitory, the night sky offering a breathtaking spectacle above. The clear sky, illuminated by the full moon and adorned with brilliant stars, was a sight to behold.

However, Kardama's moment of appreciation was abruptly interrupted as he sensed a shift in the atmosphere. With a sinking feeling in his stomach, he realized that he was being surrounded by eight individuals in the desolate field, their intentions unknown but undoubtedly hostile.

"Come on!" Kardama exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice. "If I use points, you guys target me. If I don't use points, you still target me." His words echoed in the desolate field, a stark reminder of the unfairness of his situation.

"Ha! Look at this fool," one of the gang members sneered, amusement lacing his words. "Walking alone when his rank is so low. It's like asking to be mugged." Laughter rippled through the group, their mocking tones adding insult to injury.

"And like a fool, you didn't even bring any weapons."

Their laughter grew louder, taunting Kardama for his perceived foolishness.

"Hehehe," laughed Kardama in response to the gang's mockery. "Well, what do you know? Maybe that was my intention for not joining any groups."

Undeterred, Kardama reached into his weapon storage and withdrew a sword. The gleam of the blade caught the moonlight, casting an ominous glow over the scene.

The gang members exchanged incredulous glances, their laughter fading into uneasy murmurs as Kardama's words sank in. "Wait, is this guy serious?" one of them whispered, eyeing Kardama skeptically.

"Did you just you you ability? Isn't that banned?"

Kardama tried it before, weapon storage doesn't count as using mana.

With his soul sense range now reduce to less than one meter, Kardama's anticipation grew palpable. He was eager to put his newfound ability to the test, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

And there, right before him, without being able to use any spells, mana, skills or arts.
