As the battle raged on for several more minutes, Zhang Lin's desperation and discouragement began to overshadow her resolve. The insurmountable difference in strength between her and Slasher had become painfully evident. With an air of nonchalance, Slasher brushed an imaginary speck of dust from his body before turning his attention back to Zhang Lin.
"That's the difference between us and mere mortals. We operate at different energy levels..." he asserted in his deep, resonant voice. Zhang Lin's expression grew serious as she clenched her swords tightly. Fear still coursed through her veins, causing her hands to tremble, but she stood her ground.
"Are you finished already?" Slasher taunted, observing Zhang Lin's lack of significant movement. She ground her teeth and took a step back. Samantha and Smasher exchanged grins and shared a laugh at her expense. Realizing that Zhang Lin wasn't making any noteworthy moves, Slasher decided to take action.
