Chapter 26 - 25 The Savage Queen (Part 1)

Wayne Corporations

The Uber Helen was riding in, pulled up at the front doors of the company, after being checked in at the gate. Helen paid the driver and got out of the Uber before slamming the door shut. Her appearance was enough to stun the security guards at the door as the Uber took off.

Helen pulled out her pass card from inside her bag as she made her way towards the entrance door of the company. However, before she could get passed the security guards, Gabriel's car pulled up in front of the building, attracting her attention.

Gabriel got out of his car, shut the door and tossed his car keys at one of the security guards. As he made his way towards the entrance door, he spotted Helen standing right there and raised a brow

"Like I thought, you didn't listen" Gabriel said

"What a stylish way to greet a woman in the morning. You're such a gentleman" Helen said with a smile "I'm even more surprised that you, Mr Ice Sculpture, got up early today and came to work when you didn't have to"

"Right back at you" Gabriel said "You neither seem like the type to be an early riser nor do you seem like the type to work in an office"

Helen's smile immediately turned into a frown, "You really shouldn't base my whole person, on the women from your imagination, Mr Wayne, it's insulting" she said "However, since I'm here, I will use the full extent of my power as a director. And the first thing to do, is to get rid of those who will slow my progress"

"You can't be serious" Gabriel said

"But I am, Mr Wayne" Helen said "I don't care if they've been here for years. If their skills don't meet the quota, they're as good as gone. I've seen the reports to an extent and I know just how poorly managed this department has been. I just need the remaining files from my assistant, to make my final decision on this matter"

"In what way are you and Maria, sisters?" Gabriel asked with a chuckle which surprised the security guard at the door

"I'm not as nice as she is, when it comes to people" Helen said "And you do remember our deal, right? You and the other directors will refrain from getting involved with any affair related to the fashion department during my trial period"

"The directors and I are yet to approve of that deal" Gabriel said as he walked passed her, swiped his access pass against the door's mechanism, and opened the door "You can do whatever you want here until the meeting with the other directors. Your fate will be decided there" he said as he walked in and Helen followed after him

"Good Morning, Master Wayne" Janet greeted at the door and Helen walked out from behind him and continued till the elevator 'Ah. Why do I feel like Mr Page just walked in' Janet wondered

"Ignore her, Janet. She's Maria's younger sister....or should I go with bosom friend?" Gabriel said in a calm state while Janet was more confused than ever "Thinking about it will give you a far worse headache than what I got"

"I understand, Sir" Janet said

"The materials for today?" Gabriel asked as he walked ahead while Janet followed two steps behind him

"It's on your desk" Janet said as they both made their way to the elevator

Helen got into the elevator and the doors immediately shut. At that moment, she took out her phone and went straight to her gallery where photos of the building's floor plan was saved.

'Two hundred freaking floors. With eight elevators, two elevators each on the four corners of the building and four fire escapes, with one on each corner' Helen thought as she pinched between her brows 'To top it all off, the directors and their assistants each have a personal floor in the building for themselves, and that floor not only serves as their office, but it becomes a motel for them when they have to pull an all-nighter. Plus, the director of a department's office has stairs that connect them to only floors belonging to their department'

"I hate to admit it, but it really takes into consideration my situation" Helen murmured

'When it all comes down to it, the building plan is something like this;

[Reception »First floor]

[Food & Nutrition Department »Floor 2-9]

[Assistant Director Of Food & Nutrition's Office »10th Floor]

[Director Of Food & Nutrition's Office »11th Floor]

[Department Of Finance »Floor 12-32]

[Assistant Director Of Finance's Office »33rd Floor]

[Director Of Finance's Office » 34th Floor]

[Fashion Department »Floor 35-55]

[Assistant Director Of Fashion's Office »56th Floor]'

"Ah. Here it is" Helen murmured as she looked up from her phone and pushed the elevator button for the fifty sixth floor, before placing her phone back in her bag. "Seriously, Maria, I wonder how you were able to memorize all of the info on this building" she grumbled as the elevator continued going up, before stopping on the fifty sixth floor.

As soon as the doors opened, Helen stepped out and looked around. Empty. Those were the only thoughts that came to her mind after stepping into the office.

The front desk was without a doubt, there, however, the person who was supposed to be seated there, wasn't there. Moreover, the desk and areas around the desk were far more unkept than Helen's whole room; as stacks upon stacks of file sat, both around and on the desk.

Helen let out an irritated sigh as she walked over to the desk and tossed her handbag on it. She then took off her coat and tossed it atop the bag.

'First, I had to wake up at 4am today, something that I haven't done in seven years, since I escaped that hellhole. Then, I had to put up with that fu- with that damn Ice Sculpture. And at the end of all my suffering....just when I was expecting to finally get some work done, my so called assistant isn't even here before me' Helen thought in fury as a frown laced its way onto her face. It was clear she was about to lose it, however, she ran her hand through her hair and let out a sigh "Let's think about this rationally" Helen mumbled "It's pointless getting mad at this point in time" she said as she made some space on the desk and sat there, before she crossed a leg over the other and crossed her arms

Just then, the door to the cubical at the left, rear end of the floor, opened and Helen's eyes immediately shot towards it. She had been so engrossed with her personal problems, that she had completely forgotten that the directors and their assistants had a 'motel room' on their floors.

"Those should have be the last one" a woman said with a small voice as she stepped out from the cubical "Now to pick the new bos..."

"You know, I've been waiting for you" Helen said audibly, which spooked the woman, as she immediately turned to look at Helen. Helen was in a moment of shock for a short while due to the woman's dressing, but quickly regained herself.

The woman was relatively short, with black butterfly framed glasses and freckles that covered the bridge of her nose. She had long, unkept curly reddish-blonde hair, evergreen coloured eyes, thin lips and ivory skin. As for her dressing, Helen could without a doubt say, it was something that didn't even belong in fashion catalogs.

'White button up shirt, brown knitted sweater jacket, and a freaky pleated dark green maxi skirt. Should I fire her?' Helen wondered as she took a quick glance at the woman before staring at the tables

"Wow...she's amazingly beautiful" the woman mumbled out her thoughts

"Thanks for the compliment but in my books, you're in serious trouble" Helen said, as she looked up and the woman gulped "I arrived here twenty minutes ago, and had to head straight to the elevator and figure out my way here. Honestly, it was so damn annoying and at the end of all my turmoil, to my very surprise, this desk was basically empty and, it was practically littered with stacks upon stacks of files"

"Well, that was actually..."

"My first thought when I met this desk empty, was to outright fire you because I for one, don't nurse patience. My second thought on firing you came as soon as you stepped out from your cubical" Helen said as she got off the desk and picked up her coat and handbag

The woman lowered her head, 'Maybe, just maybe, I should have accepted the position as director' she thought 'Now, this company has brought in another dictator. Someone who will work me like a slave and barely do anything. Maybe, I should just quit and go back to London'. "I..."

"However, judging by the files gathered here, I can tell you're a very competent person who knows what I need, when I need it" Helen said, which made the woman raise up her head "Replacing someone like you will be far more difficult than firing you" she said as she picked up one of the files on the table "I'm currently on a trial period so, I don't really have a lot of time to waste. I'll be taking this file for now, so I expect you to move all the rest of the files to my office within thirty minutes...Um..."

"Oh. Um...I'm Lisa....Lisa Brooks" Lisa introduced herself nervously

"I'm Helen Ashley" Helen said briefly as she walked towards the elevator "Since we're going to be seeing each other more frequently and rubbing heads as we go, I guess I'm going to be in your hands, Lisa" she said as the elevator doors opened an Helen got in

"Y-yes. You can count on me" Lisa said as the elevator doors shut. As soon as the elevator started going up, Lisa let out a sigh, "I thought my heart was going to stop. That was so scary" she said before remembering the time limit she was given "Now isn't the time for me to be doing this. I only have thirty minutes to get myself in order" she said hysterically as she ran to her desk and started picking up certain files while dropping others.

A man suddenly walked out from the spiral staircase next to the elevator. This staircase, was the staircase that connected each floors of the fashion department to each other.

The man wore a white button up shirt and jeans, while having the sleeves of his shirt pulled up to expose some tattoos. He had unkempt, dark golden brown hair and brown eyes.

He walked up to Lisa and reached out to tap her shoulder. As his hand landed on her shoulder, he asked, "What exactly are you doing, Miss Brooks?"

"God" Lisa shouted as she threw the files she was holding, in the air

"You spook too easily, Miss Brooks" the man said

"Raden..."

"Are to preparing to meet the new boss?" Raden asked and Lisa sighed as she squat down to start picking up the files

"I'm not preparing. She has already arrived" Lisa said as she arranged the files on her desk "And it's a good thing you're here, Mr Designer Head. She asked me to meet her in her office, in thirty minutes with her schedule"

"Another tyrant?" Raden asked as he helped Lisa arrange the files on her desk

"No...just a strict and amazingly scary woman" Lisa said as she lowered her head and mumbled, "I didn't give her the best first impression, and the first thing she thought of was firing me" she carried the arranged files and hugged them to her chest

"Is that all you're going with?" Raden asked

"Bring the flash drive in the top drawer and come with me" Lisa said "How this meeting goes, will determine whether we all get to keep our jobs"

"Got it"
