After hearing a voice call out, Alan stepped outside and came across some familiar faces from the area, including Sunny and several young men. Immediately, he inquired about his younger brother, Vincent, and was informed by one of the young men that Vincent and his employer, Roselyn, had been involved in a serious car accident. In shock and confusion, Alan was almost overcome by the news and would have collapsed if not for the quick thinking of the young men who held him up. After gathering himself, he went inside to inform Anthony and Mari of the situation and then rushed to the hospital to verify the information
Mari was well aware that they couldn't leave their elder brother, who was currently incapacitated, and all go to the hospital. Vincent, the youngest member of the family, was a bright and talented child who was often called "Albert Einstein" due to his proficiency in science and mathematics. Some even predicted that he would be the next Chike Obi of Nigeria, given his exceptional mathematical abilities. Vincent was a lively and cheerful young man who had many admirers and well-wishers, both young and old. Wherever he went, he brought fun and energy to the atmosphere. In addition to his intelligence, Vincent had a friendly personality and greeted everyone he met with warmth and kindness, whether he knew them or not. He just loved making new friends
Upon arriving at the hospital, Alan dashed straight to the emergency unit and called out his younger brother's name. However, he was promptly hushed by some of the nursing staff who informed him that it was a hospital and noise was not allowed, regardless of the circumstances. They directed him to one of the nurses' stations where he could make inquiries.
"Excuse me," Alan addressed one of the nurses.
"Hello, how may I assist you?" The nurse, a beautiful dark-skinned lady, responded with a smile.
"My younger brother, about 11 years old, was brought here from an accident scene," he explained
Upon hearing Alan's inquiry, the nurse's smile quickly faded away, replaced by a gloomy expression. She and her colleagues had witnessed the heartbreaking impact the accident had on the child, and despite their best efforts, they were unable to resuscitate him. Tragically, the young boy had passed away.
Alan noticed the change in the nurse's demeanor and grew increasingly anxious. He raised his voice and asked again, "Can you tell me which ward the child was taken to? Where is he now?"
The nurse's expression turned somber as she spoke with a heavy heart, "I am deeply sorry, sir. Let me connect you with one of the doctors who attended to your younger brother. They will be in the best position to provide you with an explanation."
Despite the nurse's attempt to calm him down, Alan's voice grew louder as he demanded an immediate update on his younger brother's condition
As the commotion escalated, other nurses and members of the public present for their own families took notice. Two hospital security personnel promptly approached to inquire about the source of the disturbance and calm the situation. Meanwhile, a doctor arrived on the scene and invited the agitated young man, Alan, to his office.
In the privacy of the doctor's office, Alan confided in the physician about why he had been shouting at the nurse's station. The doctor attempted to console him and offer support
"I apologize, sir. I was the doctor who attended to your younger brother when he was brought here," said the man.
"However, despite our efforts, we were unable to revive him, and he had passed away before arriving here," the doctor continued.
Alan let out a loud scream of "Noooooooo!" in response
Sunny and the other guys who accompanied him held him up and tried to comfort him. It was a truly tragic experience, with the loss of such a young and intelligent boy to premature death
Alan wept uncontrollably, blaming himself for the tragedy that had befallen his younger brother. He had allowed Roselyn to employ his brother as her accountant because she admired his intelligence. Roselyn was a food vendor who owned a popular restaurant in town, but she struggled to keep track of her daily sales records. She had come across the little boy, who had helped her with her accounts, and became very fond of him. Since then, the young mathematician had been managing her accounts and auditing her records. He was doing a good job, and Roselyn paid him a small salary as a token of appreciation. Every day, the boy looked forward to doing his accounting job, which brightened his mood.
Alan had been experiencing uneasy feelings all night, almost as if he were sensing an ominous presence. He had felt the same way when their father passed away, and again when their mother died. That's why he was concerned when Vincent and Roselyn hadn't returned home yet after dinner. They had never been out this late before. It turned out that Roselyn had been hit by a vehicle that had fled the scene, and she had sustained severe injuries that would require her to use a wheelchair. The doctors couldn't say for sure how long she would need it, but it was certain that she would be dependent on it for a period of time.
"Alan, please accept our condolences and know that we're here for you," Sunny and the others offered in an attempt to console him.
Upon the doctor's request, Alan reluctantly went to see his younger brother's lifeless body. Overcome with grief, he wept uncontrollably upon arriving at the somber scene. Even Sunny and the other onlookers found it too distressing to witness. The sight was ghastly - the boy's arms had been severed, his chest torn open, and his stomach and intestines were exposed. It was a gruesome sight that no one should have to endure.
The mortuary attendant was called and instructed to move the body of Alan's younger brother to the mortuary. As the attendant lifted the body, pieces of flesh began to fall, causing Sunny and the others to feel sickened and distraught.
Alan, despite his own grief, decided to help. He held his brother's head and shoulders together while tears streamed down his face.
As they were moving the body, Alan suddenly paused. His expression shifted from one of sorrow to one of shock and confusion. He had seen something he couldn't understand.
