Chapter 4 - Do something special to Klee?

The terrifying energy fluctuations sent shivers down Jams' scalp.

"We just had an explosion this morning, and now another one? Will it ever end?"

"Warning: Abnormal elemental fluctuations detected. Host, please evacuate from Klee immediately!"

The cold and mechanical system prompt hammered on Jams' fragile heart.

Run?

It was impossible to run!

The elemental fluctuations emanating from Klee were already reaching their limits. Jams didn't have the confidence to escape the blast radius in such a short time.

There was only one option left: jump into the lake!

At this critical moment, Jams' thinking and actions became exceptionally agile. As soon as the thought arose in their mind, his body leaped into action!

Splash!

Jumping into the wine lake, Jams was enveloped by the cool water. Before they could even feel happy about it, they suddenly sensed violent water currents around them.

When they turned their head, their eyes widened in shock.

Boom!

The fire spread in all directions, followed by a terrifying mushroom cloud rising into the sky. The lake water near the shore evaporated, leaving behind a vacuum zone!

Gurgling!

Jams was terrified, and bubbles escaped from their mouth. The shockwave from the explosion caused them to lose consciousness.

...

Boom!

Meanwhile, at the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Jean, the acting Grand Master, seemed to sense something and looked out the window.

"Oh no..."

It was such a familiar mushroom cloud.

"Didn't Jams take Klee fishing this morning? What happened to their fishing trip?"

Jean rubbed her eyes, gazing at the mushroom cloud that was larger and more terrifying than usual. The calm expression on her face couldn't be maintained any longer.

Bang!

Amber, the Outrider, burst into the room, her face flushed and panting.

"Jean... Acting Grand Master, something's happened!"

"No need to explain, I already know."

Jean raised her hand to interrupt Amber's report, donned her coat, picked up her sword, and said in a solemn tone, "It seems the explosion occurred outside the city. I will personally go and investigate with a team. You go to the Mondstadt Cathedral and find Barbara. Ask her to bring a medical team as soon as possible."

"Yes!"

Amber knew the situation was urgent and suppressed her jumbled thoughts as she hurriedly made her way to the Mondstadt Cathedral.

"Sigh..."

Jean let out a long sigh, then quickly gathered a few members of the Knights of Favonius. They left the city and headed towards the explosion site.

By the time they arrived at the Wine Lake, the aftermath of the explosion had already dissipated.

Klee sat in a huge pit, her adorable face filled with confusion.

"Who am I? Where am I? Where should I go?"

Hearing the footsteps of the knights, Klee looked up and saw Jean's stern expression.

"Mmm..."

Instinctively, Klee shrunk her neck and averted her gaze, asking weakly, "Acting Grand Master Jean, did Klee make another mistake?"

"What do you think?"

Jean glanced at the crater, approximately twenty meters in diameter. Her purple eyes contracted slightly. Since when did Klee's bombs have such tremendous power!?

She instinctively grasped the sword at her waist, her gaze sharp as a knife. "Did you cause this explosion?"

"It seems like it..."

Klee raised her little hand and weakly said, "Klee was having lunch with Jams, and while we were eating, i suddenly felt warm, and then it exploded."

"How is that possible!"

Jean's slender legs lightly propelled her as she jumped beside Klee, grasping the little girl's hand to inspect the elemental fluctuations within her.

Soon, her surprise turned into utter shock!

"Her affinity with the fire element has actually surpassed expectations. This... What have you done!?"

Klee's talent had ascended to the first stage, an elemental affinity breakthrough. It could be seen as an awakening.

But Jean couldn't feel any joy.

The stronger this little girl became, the more dangerous she would be. Today, she blew up fish; tomorrow, she might blow up the city, and the day after tomorrow, the entire Teyvat continent! Just thinking about it made Jean's scalp tingle.

Jean felt that what happened to Klee was far too bizarre.

For a vision bearer, such breakthroughs were extremely rare and difficult to achieve, yet Klee had achieved it so easily.

Was it a coincidence?

"If it's not a coincidence, then..."

Jean suddenly looked at Jams, who was floating peacefully on the lake's surface, with a whimsical thought forming in her mind.

Could Klee's breakthrough be related to Jams?

She didn't dare to think further, slowly standing up and assuming the dignified presence befitting a Grand Master.

"Set up a perimeter around this area. Seek assistance from the craftsmen in the city to correct the terrain. I'll take Klee and Mr. Jams to the Mondstadt Cathedral for treatment."

"Yes!"

The accompanying members of the Knights of Favonius immediately got busy.

"Let's go."

Jean carried Klee's petite body in her arms, then walked to the lakeside and lifted the peacefully sleeping Jams.

"Captain Jean, Klee did something wrong. Aren't you going to discipline her?" Klee nuzzled against Jean's embrace.

"At this point, how many times you got in trouble ?"

A bitter smile appeared on Jean's gentle face. She disciplined Klee out of love, but even if she wanted to discipline her, she needed to first find out the whole story.

"Captain Jean, I'm sorry."

Klee looked towards Sucrose, who was trapped between Jean's arms, and couldn't help but giggle. But upon feeling Jean's stern gaze, she quickly covered her mouth and made a muffled sound like a little child: "Sorry, big brother Sucrose too."

"As long as you know."

Jean gave this overly lively little girl a stern look, feeling both indulgent and helpless.

Perhaps it was just her imagination, but she felt that Klee was a bit more obedient today than usual... setting aside the explosions.

...

Inside a lounge at the Mondstadt Cathedral.

"Jams is in good health, you could say he's too healthy."

"Are you sure there's no problem?"

"Ahem... Captain Jean, don't worry, I have thoroughly examined him. Jams only experienced a brief fainting due to a minor concussion. Klee is also fine, no need for any additional treatment."

"Thank you, Barbara."

"Hehe, little Klee is becoming more obedient."

"..."

Jams gradually regained consciousness and slowly opened his eyes. He saw Jean and Klee chatting and laughing with a sweet-looking, fair-haired girl with twin braids.

The girl in the white dress with a slightly puffed collar tied with a light blue bow gave off a youthful, healthy, and vibrant impression.

"Barbara."

As an experienced player, Jams immediately recognized the identity of this energetic girl.

Barbara, the Archbishop of the Mondstadt Cathedral and also Jean's younger sister!

"Jams, you're awake!"

Klee was the first to notice Jams waking up. She instantly rushed to his bedside, bringing her adorable face close to Jams.

"You're awake!"

"That's enough, are you trying to act cute to seek forgiveness from me again?"

Jams pinched Klee's cheek, looked her up and down, and smiled as he asked, "How do you feel now? Do you feel any discomfort?"

Before losing consciousness, Jams received a system prompt about Klee's advancement in her Elemental Burst, so he was curious about Klee's current state.

"Uwu!"

However, this sentence was completely misunderstood by the girls.

This man who just woke up from unconsciousness completely disregarded his own well-being and was more concerned about Klee in the first place.

What a broad-minded person he was!

Even Jean, who was struck by this warm-hearted gesture, was moved in her soft heart. Being blown up twice in one day and still remaining so calm, when it comes to doting on Klee, Jean would call him the strongest.

"Uwu, Jams ..."

Klee was also deeply touched by Jams' "concern," burying her head in Jams' embrace and whimpering.

"Huh?"

Jams looked at the small Klee in his arms, full of question marks.

I just wanted to ask how you feel after upgrading, if you don't want to say, then forget it. Is crying really necessary?

However, before he could unravel his confusion, Jean suddenly walked over to him and whispered:

"Jams, did you do something special to Klee?"

Jams: "???"
