Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 - How Harry met Nick Fury

Harry woke up early the next morning when his alarm went off. He dragged himself out of bed and into the shower before getting dressed in simple black-grey jeans, a grey shirt, and his military jacket. He had gotten the jacket when he joined his Force Team and he loved it. Harry smiled when he remembered how his Team had proudly shown him his jacket as they all had one to fit in with the pretence of being a military organisation. Shaking himself out of his thoughts he decided to go out for breakfast instead of cooking up something new. He would most likely burn something in his excitement to get to the base for his meeting with Director Fury. The Director was conveniently a high-profile person so Harry had even gotten to read a file on the man - admittedly, it wasn't much - but Harry had worked with less information. This wasn't like his missions, Harry decided, this was his chance to finally do something good instead of mostly doing paperwork since Voldemort was defeated. After the defeat, they had rounded up the Death Eaters for questioning and trials and stamped down some minor dark wizards that thought they could take Voldemort's place, now that the man was out of the way. It had been one of those missions that had gotten him the Captain title when his two colleagues had been killed and Harry had been left to take charge of 100 Auror Soldiers, that had been with the three Lieutenants on that mission, effectively doing a Captain's work. After they had finally managed to control the dark wizards there hadn't been much left for their Force Team to do as the rest was up to the hit wizards and the politicians in charge of the trials. As Captain Harry had been the second in command of their Team after the Major and as such had had to help with the paperwork and the reports they had had to write for the ICW and the WWC - Wizarding World Council. Everyone knew that he hated playing paper pusher but, as the General reminded him often enough, paperwork was a necessary evil to be allowed to go out into the field. Nobody wanted to end like Team 9 who didn't do their reports and had been reduced to paper pushers for a whole year while the cleanup was in process and all other teams were out.

Coming out of his musings Harry saw that his feet had carried him to the base without him noticing it. Harry entered the building and made his way to the front desk. "Auror Major Hadrian Romanov-Potter, my superior General Gojele made an appointment with Director Fury for me." He told the Lady at the front desk who looked him over before speaking into her headset. "Director, Major Romanov-Potter to see you." She was listening to the answer before nodding and waving someone over. "Rogers, this is Major Romanov-Potter. Bring him to the Director, will you? He is not to be left alone in the halls." Rogers was a bulky, tall blond with startling clear blue eyes. Harry followed the man silently through the halls until Rogers asked something. "How long did you serve for?" Harry ducked his head. "I joined basics a few months after I turned fourteen. That's almost four years now. I turned eighteen yesterday." Harry explained. "How long did you serve, Captain? You have the symbols on your uniform but they only tell the rank not the serving time." He said when Rogers looked at him questioningly. "I got in 1943 and served until 1945 when I had an incident. Crashed a plane and froze but somehow didn't die. SHIELD found me last year and defrosted me." They turned another corner when Rogers stopped in front of a door. He knocked and got an "Enter!" called through the door. "Have fun with Fury, Major." Rogers saluted and walked away as Harry opened the door to the Director's office.

Nicholas Fury was not a patient person and had a lot of things on his mind already - even before being told that he'd have to interview the new British transfer Agent,  personally. Fury liked General Gojele because the man took no bullshit but to get a mail, the day before the transfer, that he was even getting a transfer Agent, now that had Fury pissed off. He was expecting some old soldier that had been wounded in the field and now was shipped across the pond so that they'd leave their missions alone. When it knocked on his door Fury schooled his features into a black expression and settled back into his seat before calling out an "Enter!" The person on the other side opened his door and in walked ... a kid?!

"I think you got the wrong door, kid." The boy, with black hair and startling green eyes, raised an eyebrow and sat down in the other seat. "Yeah, well, I don't think so." Harry said. "Unless, of course, you want to call Captain Rogers incompetent as he brought me here. Besides, your sign says Director Fury, that's who I'm supposed to meet."

"When General Gojele e-mailed me, I thought his Major would be an old fart injured in the field. Not some kid looking like he's not even out of school." Fury snapped, irritated that the Gojele didn't tell him he was taking a rookie.

"Well, the Major didn't tell me I'd be working for someone who doesn't know the first thing about military." Harry snarked right back. "I guess we've both been held in the dark about each other. So how about we get to the interview. I really hoped to get out into the field again and not spend my day throwing insults at a man like we're ten."

Fury threw his head back and barked a laugh. "You sound like one of my Agents." Harry smirked at the Director. "I spent four years at military bases, some habits take root."

"Do you mind me getting two of my best Agents in here? Barton and Romanova, they work with the Avengers initiative."

Harry raised an eyebrow. "What would they have to do with me, Director Fury? I'm a normal Agent from Britain. Why would you need them here?"

"I don't need them but I would prefer them to be aware of you. I've read your file. Classified information after classified information and then you go into basics at fourteen. Reached Major Rank by the age of seventeen and abruptly asked to be transfered to a secret agency on the other side of the world. You could either be potentially dangerous or a very important asset to SHIELD."

"Bring them in." Harry said. "I reserve the right to ask them to leave at any time during the interview."
