Chapter 12 - Interesting subject for Indu

They resorted to using abusive language towards Indu before eventually leaving. Later, Rani also approached Indu, requesting entry, but left when Indu denied her access as well.

"I don't understand why these individuals come barking at my door," Indu thought to herself, determined to distance herself from Rani.

Finally, the first day of the second semester on campus arrived. The classroom buzzed with conversations about how everyone had spent their holidays. Archna, one of Indu's classmates, approached her, curious about her holiday experiences. Archna knew that Indu rarely engaged with others.

Indu responded, "It was enjoyable. I visited my maternal grandparents' house."

Everyone was surprised. It was the first time Indu had engaged in conversation with someone other than Rani. Archna and Indu began sharing stories about their respective experiences. Soon, other girls joined in the conversation. Rani grew increasingly angry and approached Indu.

Rani exclaimed, "Indu, they're just a bunch of losers. You don't need to share all this with them. Come, let me show you my new phone."

In the past, Indu would have eagerly followed Rani, praising her. But now, as our female lead, things had changed.

Indu responded, "Don't label others as losers when you yourself fit the description. Do I know you well enough to heed your advice?" Her words caught everyone off guard. They expected Indu to leave with Rani, but instead, she stood her ground. Nervously, Rani attempted to regain control of the situation.

"Indu, why are you speaking like this? I am your friend," Rani exclaimed.

Indu replied, "Friends? Tsk, you never treated me as one. I was merely a wallet for you to exploit. So, stop bothering me and leave."

Everyone present was aware of Rani's exploitation of Indu, as they had previously tried to warn her. However, Indu had never believed them until now. Rani stormed off in anger.

The other girls now viewed Indu in a different light. She had transformed from her previous self. Indu continued conversing with the others.

After five minutes, Mrs. Kusum, the history teacher, entered the classroom. Everyone stood up in their seats and greeted her. She was known for her strict demeanor and had no tolerance for idle chatter. After taking attendance, she proceeded to teach the first lesson.

History was one of Indu's most intriguing subjects. She eagerly read any history book she could find in the college library. All the students opened their history books. Mari, however, had been unable to purchase her own book. She anxiously looked around, hoping someone would share theirs with her. Indu noticed Mari's predicament and decided to help.

Indu sat with Mari and instructed her to read from her own book. Mari was both surprised and grateful. Together, they began reading the chapter as the teacher delved into the first lesson.

The chapter, titled "Reconstructing and Interpreting Medieval India," served as an introduction, providing an overview of resources from the Mughal and Sultanate periods.

The history teacher proceeded to discuss Alberuni during the Sultanate period.
