As I described the islands earlier, it's famous for being the birthplace of Xavier Harris, a legendary archmage who heralded the first great war against the monsters from the dungeons. He died of a disease and was buried in Italy, the place of his death.
Anyways, the reason for the Nexus Academy to take its students to this place was that the world's most advanced and biggest 'Monster Garden' was located there.
A 'Monster Garden' is a place where the dead carcasses of legendary monsters are kept as displays and used to teach people about their anatomy, weaknesses and strengths, and how to combat them effectively. It's basically a museum but with monster carcases.
We had finally arrived at the Skyrail Station of the Mystic Islands.
I had fallen asleep, resting my head on Evangeline's head. After hearing an announcement that we were close to our destination, I woke up.
"Hey. Wake up. We're here.", I nudged my left shoulder on which Evangeline's head was resting.
"Mmm... yeah... good morning...", she fumbled out.
"It's evening already. Let's get off the train now."
"Hmm..."
The 8-hour-long ride made my butt feel like a rock. The blood flow was not enough...
'The tour is supposed to start from tomorrow... Today, it's supposed to be a resting day...'
The school had rented out 2 entire gigantic 4-star hotels. One for the boys and the other for the girls.
'All of this is gonna get demolished by the monster hordes...', I sighed as I looked at the impressive and futuristic piece of infrastructure.
'Such a shame... But there's nothing that I can do about it...'
"Let's meet up again tomorrow morning, okay?", Evangeline spoke to me. She had a wide smile on her face, probably because she had just woken up from a long and comfortable nap.
"Okay. Goodnight.", I said my farewell to her and went ahead into the hotel.
It's strange that there are so few teachers in this whole thing... in normal school field trips, there would be teachers everywhere, but here, there were hardly any.
'It's because all of the teachers of the Nexus Academy are very high-level hunters and they had skills which allowed them to supervise almost all students simultaneously.', I concluded.
Each teacher is so strong that they more than makeup for their lack in numbers.
'There's no way I can do something like go out alone at night to go artifact hunting... or is there?', a smirk appeared on my face.
I had already asked William to give me special permission to roam around late at night. He was reluctant at first, but after I said that there was something he could gain from this too, he was swayed.
'It's kinda easy to sway materialistic people... I gotta keep in mind not to become like that, haha...'
My window to escape the other teacher's surveillance should be around 12:30 PM. William will cast an illusion on me so that it will look like me just sleeping, but in reality, I'll be away in some cave, looking for hidden artifacts.
Speaking of caves, there is one cave with a pretty busted artifact inside it. It's close to the place where I am currently staying in.
'I will have to fight some monsters before I can get it, though...'
The artifact I am referring to here is called the 'Ring of Requiem'. It's just like the 'Totem of Undying' in Minecraft, the only difference being the fact that it's a ring and it's not a consumable item. The ring's ability has a 1-day cooldown. So, technically, I have one extra life each day.
It was an artifact created by Xavier Harris himself and it is the reward for defeating the 2 mid-level stone golems that are guarding it.
In the novel, a villain finds the artifact and abuses it to get away with heinous crimes and life-threatening situations.
Even after the protagonist decapitates him, he manages to fool him into thinking that he actually killed him. But in reality, the villain survives and goes on ahead to sell his soul to a demon to be able to beat the protagonist.
'Haha, jokes on you trashy villain! I'm gonna take your key item!', I chuckled at the thought of sabotaging a guy I don't even know. I guess that's kinda evil, but who cares? It's not like anyone's ever gonna know about it...
I entered the room that was assigned to me. The room was definitely bigger than my dorm and my apartment.
'Worthy of a four-star hotel!', I exclaimed in my mind as I got ready to take a shower and freshen up.
...
As I was taking the shower, I planned out how I would deal with the upcoming events once again.
In total, there were 3 main events in the novel:
1) The Protagonist Vs Rival Event: In this event, Curtis, the protagonist's rival challenges him to duels. The players had to compete with each other for 5 duels and the one who won the most matches won the Prize, which was basically the ticket to go on a date with Sophia, as cringe as it sounds. Julian was disgusted at the idea, but he hated losing so he played along and won the whole thing.
2) Protagonist x Lover: Here, Julian and Sophia's relationship skyrocketed. Julian actually started to fall for Sophia and she fell for him too. It was a part that was extremely hard for me to read because I find romance cringe.
3) The Dungeon Outbreak: This sealed the whole 'Field Trip' arc. The Monsters flooded in and decimated everything in their way, even many of the Nexus Academy students too.
I'd definitely skip the first and second parts, as it has nothing to do with me. I'll spend most of my time finding artifacts and rare materials. And also occasional fun with Evangeline, if possible.
---- Evangeline's POV ----
Evangeline was currently sitting on her bed, her hair still wet from showering, wearing a light dress.
She was currently grinning like an idiot.
'This is so exciting! I have never felt this way ever in my life! I can't believe that only one guy can make me feel all of these emotions!'
She was excited because, for the first time in her life, she was seriously looking forward to something that she believed would be extremely fun.
She had grown more and more fond of Samuel's company and the way he made her feel.
'So this is what it feels like to have a friend... It feels so nice...', she sighed in satisfaction. She was happy to be alive.
As she was combing her hair, her eyes fell on the phone sitting on top of the dressing table.
A strange thought went through her mind.
'Should I call him?', she wondered.
But immediately regretted that as now she was extremely embarrassed about the nonsense she was thinking of.
'I can't! No way! That would be too creepy, even for me! It's nighttime, for god's sake! It would seem weird no matter how you look at things!'
She violently shook her head to get rid of the thoughts.
