Something that has never happened began to happen in his life. He is here but his mind is partially else where. Justin would be lying to himself if he said he had a beautiful sleep last night. He only rolled and flipped hundred times on the bed. Sleep didn't come, talk much of dizziness. He spent the whole night thinking about her. He suddenly developed something he hasn't had before.
The thing is unexplainable. He can't even defined how he feels right now but what he knows is that he is devastated and frustrated. His whole body and soul is carried away by that one thing that has been causing distraction to him since yesterday. He find it hard to concentrate in work and other chores. His mind is always blank whenever he stares at the document.
No focus, no attention, no interest. He is just blank like a white sheet of paper. How does he explains this to someone now? What is literally his problem? He lost two billion dollars deal this morning and with all the meetings ahead of the day today, he doesn't think he can handle anymore. He doesn't want to ruin more things than he has already done. For now, he is like a beast. Whatever he touches always get ruined and destroyed. He killed the two major deals that were so important to him this morning. How much more might he do later for the rest?
Maxwell barge in with a black eye. "Dude, what was the meaning of that? You acted like an intern in front of our most important investors from Japan and Tokyo."
The guy was so furious that he couldn't control his anger. Justin already getting signs of a headache, walked to the wine cellar to pour himself a drink. Maxwell took the bottle after him and poured himself some too. Both of them really need it after the heavy loss.
He leaned on the desk. "I don't know what is wrong with me lately. I see myself doing things that I shouldn't."
"Well, it's high time you visit your therapist." Max sipped his wine, sitting on the couch. "Like seriously, I can't believe that was you, bro. You tarnished two big deals in one day. What the hell? Do you know how much those project would have earn us?"
"I don't care about the profit. Right now my life is a total mess. I fell in the bathroom this morning and almost broke my arm. I mistook Mrs. Hemsworth from mom and I wore a baseball cap on bathrobe and called it a business outfit."
Maxwell couldn't help the situation but laughed.
"If not for dad who asked me if am running a high temperature and mom who gave me a mirror to cross-check myself, I would have been a laughing stock in the office today." He whined, sipping his wine.
"You don't have a girlfriend yet and you're acting like you're missing someone." Seriously, Max was actually right. Justin is surely missing someone.
Someone who he had started liking.
"She meant it when she said she won't come to me again." He sighed, looking down. "She's the reason why all these things are happening to me."
Maxwell laughed awkwardly, pointing at him. "Okay, that was just a phrase, right? You don't have anyone yet and you barely miss your loved ones. Infact, the Justin I know will not miss anyone because he doesn't know how to love, so where are all these coming from?"
Justin dropped his glass on the desk and went to stand by the big window. Maxwell suspected something in his silence. He followed and stood next to him. Wondering if Justin was actually serious about it.
"Dude? Do you.....have a girlfriend?" He was being careful enough so he doesn't provoke his spirit.
The latter took time to shake his head without taking his gaze off the city's view. "No. But I still don't know what she has done to me. Since she stopped coming to me, all these things started happening. I regret ever asking her, her name. If I hadn't asked, she'd have remained with me now."
Still getting confused, Max inquired. "I still don't get it, man. Who is this girl you're talking about? Do I know her?"
He shook his head, "Yes, Max. She's the daughter of Mumbai's Senate."
Max mimicked his two last words, still fishing out who he was talking about but when he remembered, his eyes grew big. "What the fuck? Tell me you haven't been seeing Priyanka."
"For over twelve years now." He faced him. Justin told Max everything about how it all started.
Max was left speechless and tongue-tied. He slumped on the couch quietly without a single word in return. His eyes looking up into his cousin's as his lips parted in agape. Justin sat beside him.
"She warned me never to share our conversations with anyone. You're the first person who knows about this. My instincts was right the very first day of the accident. But I had doubt it wasn't her. I didn't know who to tell. I was traumatized by company around me. I got used to it and I began to enjoy it and now that she's gone…..I feel empty. I feel my whole world falling apart, Max." He buried his face in his palm.
"So the plane crash information wasn't from a friend of yours at the airport?"
He lifts his head and looked at him, "You know I don't have any friends working at the airport. I only have pilots working for me."
"This is crazy." Max stood up, took his coat off and kept it on a chair. "This is total madness, Justin. A mermaid? Fuck me! You've been under this trauma for years and nobody knew about it? What fucking threats did she give you? And she?" His hands falls to his side with a huge scowl on his face. "She bewitched you, man. I never knew that girl wasn't pure. I'd have not asked for her number."
Her number?
Justin rose up instantly, "Do you have her number?"
"Me? Fuck no. I'm glad she didn't give me." Max felt for him when he began to pace around. "Hey, hope you haven't started developing something for that girl?"
Justin hesitated, "I don't know. But one thing I know is that she's taking everything back, Max. Our extended riches aren't genuine, she made all those contracts and all happen."
"How sure are you if she wasn't the one who made up those super heroes assignments?"
"No." Justin remarked firmly. "I believed everything she has been telling me from start. She was the one who gave me clue about Tristan and Francesca." He didn't care if she was gonna come out of the wall and take his life.
Didn't she promised never to show up again and she didn't? So, why would she care if he disclose their connection when they're no more?
Max suggested something. "Dude, we need her back."
"Listen, I don't want to be the same selfish guy who only desire things for himself. Of course I need her to fix things. To fix me, my life! But it'll oy look like I needed her for material things."
"It doesn't make any difference, Justin. We lost two deals in one day, it's not hilarious, she has to come back and do something about it."
"Brilliant!" He crossed his arms. "She warned me not to search for her."
Max frowned, "She? Dude, be a man and stop being a woman. She can't keep on telling you what to do and how to do things. You're a man. Men controls women not the other way round. Find her or else the next thing that will happen here…. Will be the last of the company."
"I won't let that happen." Justin's eyes narrowed. "We've established so much for this company for years as partners and nothing will ruin it."
"Then do something now while the pillars are still active. If you can't find her to come fix everything, then I will. And I don't care whatever she'll do to me with her powers."
