Chapter 73 - Baseball (AC Part 22)

Ryu was keeping up with events.

He knew that it wouldn't be long before the baseball tournament between classes would begin.

The day of the baseball tournament.

Class E was ready. The moment had arrived, and everyone was watching. Class A stood on the field, confident and smug, while Class E was quietly determined. No one expected them to win, but that was exactly what they planned to prove wrong.

The game began with Class E at bat.

Sugino stepped up first, his bat in hand, eyes narrowed. He wasn't the timid kid anymore. He had something to prove.

The pitch came, fast and sharp. Sugino swung.

Crack!

The ball soared, heading straight for the outfield. It went over the fence. A home run.

The dugout erupted in cheers. "Sugino! You did it!" Ryu shouted, jumping to his feet, his fist pumping in the air. The girls—Yukiko, Manami, Rinka, and Irina—joined in, cheering wildly from the bench. Koro-sensei, hovering above, clapped his hands with exaggerated enthusiasm. "Wonderful, Sugino! Simply magnificent!"

Sugino rounded the bases, grinning, as the crowd—both Class E and even some from Class A—looked on in shock.

1-0.

Okuda stepped up next, her expression calm as ever. She didn't hesitate. The pitch came in, and she struck it perfectly, sending it into the outfield.

A single.

"Nice hit, Okuda!" Ryu called, his voice filled with excitement as she jogged to first base, looking over at the bench where Class E was already hyped. Koro-sensei cheered, "You're all doing so wonderfully! Keep it up!"

The score was already ticking upward, and Class A's pitcher was visibly rattled.

By the time Ryu stepped up to bat, Class E was leading 3-0, and the Class A pitcher was starting to lose his composure. The tension was thick in the air.

Ryu smirked, eyes scanning the field. He didn't look like he had a care in the world, even with the pressure mounting. The pitcher threw.

Crack!

The ball launched into the air, heading for the fence. It sailed past the outfielders.

Home run.

Class E's dugout went wild. "That's our Ryu!" Karma yelled, grinning widely. "Let's go!"

The girls jumped up from the bench, cheering for Ryu. "You've got this!" Yukiko shouted, fists pumping in the air. Irina gave a playful wink toward the field, "Good job, Ryu-kun!" Koro-sensei floated by, his eyes gleaming with pride. "Excellent performance!"

The score was now 4-0, and Class A was visibly shaken. Their smug faces were starting to crack, the realization that they might actually lose settling in.

As the game went on, Class E kept up the pressure, adding a couple more runs with key hits from Manami and Rinka. The crowd couldn't believe it. They had expected Class E to fall apart, but instead, the team was playing with a level of cohesion and intensity that left everyone stunned. Every hit was met with loud cheers from Class E's dugout. "That's how it's done!" Karma yelled, as Manami sprinted toward first base.

Class A was struggling to get on base. Their best batters kept striking out or grounding out. Karma, pitching now, was practically untouchable. His curveballs had Class A swinging at air.

"Strike two!" the umpire called as a Class A batter missed yet another pitch.

Class E's bench couldn't contain their excitement. "Keep it up, Karma!" Ryu yelled, his voice laced with admiration. Yukiko, arms crossed, watched with a satisfied smirk on her face, barely able to hide her pride. "This is it. We've got this in the bag."

Koro-sensei hovered over the field, beaming. "What an incredible team! You're showing them the true meaning of teamwork!"

By the 5th inning, the score was 6-1. Class A managed to get one run in, but they couldn't get anything else. Their frustration was palpable.

Class E kept their spirits high. Irina clapped her hands and grinned. "You're all doing amazing! Keep it up, guys!"

One last chance for Class A came in the 6th inning. They needed to score big, but Karma was relentless.

The first pitch came in—a strike. Then another. Strike two.

The batter stepped back, sweat dripping from his forehead. He glanced over at his teammates, who were holding their breath. The pressure was mounting. The crowd was on edge.

The final pitch was a curveball. The batter swung—Strike three.

The field erupted in celebration. Class E had done it. The final score was 6-1.

Sugino, Ryu, Karma, and the others sprinted to the mound. "We actually did it!" Sugino yelled, out of breath but grinning ear to ear.

"Class E!" Karma shouted, his grin wide as he tossed his glove into the air. "We showed them!"

Class A, stunned and speechless, stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Their faces were pale, jaws dropped. They had expected an easy win, but instead, they'd been utterly outplayed.

"We lost…" one of Class A's players muttered, disbelief clear in his voice.

Class E's victory was complete. It was more than just a game—it was the moment they had all waited for, proving that no matter how lowly they were seen, they were a force to be reckoned with.

Koro-sensei cheered from above, his voice booming across the field. "That's my students! Absolutely fantastic!"

Irina gave a thumbs-up, her grin wide. "That's what I'm talking about! A true win for Class E!"

Class E's victory was felt all across the school, as the crowd applauded. They weren't just the underdogs anymore. They were champions.
