The sudden scare jolted Jian Dan, who fell straight from her chair onto the floor.
Falling to the ground, Jian Dan looked up at her looming teacher, not even bothering with the pain, and quickly stood up, her smile extremely awkward.
"You dare to sleep during my class? Pretty bold of you!"
"Sorry, teacher, it wasn't intentional; I just didn't sleep well last night!" Jian Dan could only lie that she hadn't slept well the night before.
"Didn't sleep well? Is that an excuse? Ask anyone in this classroom—who has had a good night's sleep, who hasn't been reviewing until midnight?" the teacher pointed around the whole class.
Jian Dan knew this excuse was weak, but it was the only one she had thought of in the moment.
"Teacher, I'm sorry, I'm wrong, I will never sleep in your class again!" Apologizing always seemed the right thing to do at that time, didn't it?
