As they approached the car, Lao Hei's phone suddenly started ringing.
Shi Nian'an noticed that this phone was different from the one he used around her and guessed it was a call related to work, so she didn't say anything.
Lao Hei looked at her before stepping aside to answer the call. Whatever the person on the other end said, after hearing it, he hung up immediately.
By the time he came back, Nian'an could tell from his hesitant appearance that he was going to leave. To hide the disappointment welling up inside her, she spoke proactively, "If you've got things to do, go ahead. I can dine alone, it's fine. We can meet up some other time when you're free, I'll skip class to see you."
Lao Hei gazed at her intently, the perpetual glacier in his eyes seemingly melting a little, "Alright, take care."
Having said that, he drove off without looking back, leaving Nian'an standing forlornly at the roadside.
